Still in the first one. I'm reading the Dutch version, but it has more than 1000 pages. I'll try to sprint this weekend.

Ugh I keep forgetting to update and I only have an hour of listening time left!
(view spoiler)
Kind of missing the POV’s from the first book but I think this book is very good!

I'm almost done with this one and whew! What a ride. I feel like this is easily becoming one of my favorite post-apocalyptic stories I've read so far.
I really love how much time is covered by this story, it adds to the realism. The flash-backs are handles really well also, really makes the characters seem more solid and layered.

It's one of my favorites too. I hope the second is as good as the first. I've just read the prologue now and each chapter has 12 (in refering to the 2nd book?) points where the writer summarizes the first book. The only thing that annoyes me a littles bit (but that's personal), is the God - thing.
I've figured it out why I have slightly more problems with getting in the 2nd one: I think there are 2 parts in this book: the first one is about the first weeks after the infection, the virals, the dead people and the other part goes generations further.
Cronin knows how to keep the tension in. Like in the part where (view spoiler) I've noticed, when the tension rises at the end of a chapter, Cronin steps smoothly to another character or scene and you're waiting anxitously what is going to happen with the previous character.
