Deleting a duplicate book with no isbn

Hi,

I am a librarian, but not a super librarian. If a book has two copies and has already been combined with an issue that has no ISBN can someone delete that edition. The author explained that the ISBN changed so a new edition has been created and combined, but the old one is still there. Any help?
