I feel like Diaz did a wonderful job in making his story easy and enjoyable to read. I feel like the story not only has a lot of literary techniques, it has a lot of real life problems. It talked about immigration, fatherless children and drugs; a lot of scenarios that a good amount of people can relate to. I feel as though the literary techniques were awesome! His beautiful imagery makes the story that much real and paints a nice photo in your mind. At the same time, I feel like this book could somehow be a form of interpersonal communication studies about 'face'. It is a term of what is an appropriate behavior for society. And just a thought, but what if it was a story told for each face. I don't know. But either way, I would say that this book is deemed a 'good book' because it keeps the reader interested and also educates them. So, good job Diaz.

(Some English teacher must have told his class to post a review on Goodreads, because four of them have suddenly appeared here.)
