sorry groups - for those waiting on new groups - the list in msg 3 is updatedJennifer - Group A
Cathy - Group B
Sophia - Groups C and D
Gea - Group E
I finished my groups, but I'm not sure I'll finish another group by the end of the month. If I'm assigned another group and don't finish, what happens? Do I just rank what I read?
Shan wrote: "I finished my group could I be assigned to another?"Have I been added to another group and looking in the wrong place. I check message 3 daily, but nothing is listed there except for the group I have already finished.
Just checking because there are only so many days left in the month.
Dee, I finished my last two groups so I have two left. I wanted to ask if I manage to finish the first, but I don't manage to finish the second will that be a problem? If it is can you assign me to just group?
Dee wrote: "Sophia - I gave you C and D above, did you see those? if you can only finish one do that please"I finished both groups. You can check if you want. The rankings are posted
After Sunday with the month nearly over, I will not be doing any more group assignments - so if you think you are going to want another group, please request before Sunday at noon (EST) - or forever hold your peace
Dee, I'm confused about ranking I think. Some people are giving books they read 4 and 5 stars yet are ranking them lower than books that were given 3 stars based on there general preference of a certain genre I think? I certainly would have ranked mine differently if we are allowed to do this. I really don't enjoy LGBT that much but it just happened to be a better book than my other picks so I ranked it 1st. What's the point of reading books if we don't rank them based on our picks for that genre? Why don't we just say what we like best and go from there? I'm currently finishing up my second group and want to make sure I understand the rules so I can rank them correctly. My favorite genres or the best of the books I choose?
Cathy - you are supposed to rank based on the theme of the book and the enjoyment - so while you might really enjoy a book - the theme (i.e. romance with child) - may not be as good as say another theme in the group (which you may enjoy less)does that make sense?
It does but my rankings for group F would completely change because I ranked only on my enjoyment of the books I picked. I just happened to pick some bad books for genres I usually enjoy. Is it ok if I change my rankings for that group and I'll go forward with those rules in mind for my other groups.
yeh that's fine - I'll put some clarification out - I had mentioned it before but I guess need to clarify
Dee - I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish my second group (E). Can I be taken off that one? If not, I'll push through, but thought it was worth asking.Sorry!
so if you aren't going to finish your group - read what you can and rate - the ones you don't get read, just won't be counted (i.e. zero points)
Cathy wrote: "Dee, I'm confused about ranking I think. Regardless, I will continue to do so, because I did my initial ranking based on the theme and my final ranking based on enjoyment of book.
I guess I should say the first ranking is my enjoyment of the theme from previous occasions, because so far all of the themes I have encountered are themes that I have indeed read before. The final ranking is from my enjoyment of the books I picked to represent the themes for this challenge.
I had to keep this in mind the other day when I did my group F rankings. Although the "YA" book I chose was my favorite and highest rated, it really did not end up matching the theme all that well, so it ended up third behind two books I enjoyed slightly less, but that matched their themes better.
Is that the correct way to rank? that's what I thought.
Enjoyment of book + how well it fit the theme = ranking.
