Quantum (quantumkatana) Thank you, Phil Champagne, for taking the time to answer our interview Q&A and help people get to know you better.

Tell us about your writing.
Why do you write?
I enjoy to decipher complex concept and render them more understandable for my peers interested in the same topic. I typically need to have a passion for the subject and in the case of Bitcoin, it was a multiple facet - the technological marvel as well as the investment and the economic revolution.

When did you decide to become a writer?
It has always been a dormant aspiration, so it is difficult to put a "when" or a "ahah" moment. My first book was The Book of Satoshi and it came up as a discovery of a need. I wanted to understand more about the original creator's thought and the early discussions, and considering he vanished after 2 years, his writings were the only things left. If, like Linus Torvald who created Linux kernel, Satoshi was still around, I would not have had the interest in writing this book. It came solely because of his disapearance from public life. The title of the book reflects this aspect.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?
I do not have huge ambition, more like the pleasure of creating something that will be beneficial in terms of education. I am considering writing a fiction book in the future, but it will have an educative purpose. Rather than a distopian society, the book would be about a world in which there is no governments, but every services and products provided by competing businesses (anarcho capitalist society). I don't have a time frame, but it will be when I have quite more time on my hand.

What books have you written?
Hammock Income: How to Have Your Money Work Best for You Through Private Real Estate Investment
https://www.amazon.com/Hammock-Income...

A complimentary copy is available here: http://wreninvestment.com/wp-content/...

What genre(s) are your books in?
Investment and/or economics (Austrian School of Economy)

Are there any correlations between the books you write and your life experiences?
I invest in what I write.

Do you adhere to an outline or go wherever your imagination takes you?
A general framework

How do you withstand critiques of your masterpiece?
Let them be.

Do you put messages in the books you write and, if yes, what are they?
None other than trying to give some hint about the importance for readers to do a retrospect. The brainwashing we have been served by government schools and mainstream media has done some real damage to many people. It took me several books on Gold and Autrian school of Economy to finally understand. I find it fascinating that Bitcoin is helping the general population to finally question what is really money and to realize Central Banking (Fraudulant Reserve) is only serving elite banks.

You know sales can be a little tough until you make it big time. If I told you now, that you'd sell up to 1,000 books within the next 30 years, would you still write?
Yes

Put yourself in the place of a reader (not easy, I know). Why would s/he want to read or have to read your book?
For the Book of Satoshi, there are multiple facets that makes it of interest. There is the educative portion of it but also the historical portion - what happened in the early days. At the same time, there is the value of reading the words of a person who launched a financial freedom revolution.

Who are your bestselling competitors in the genre and what can you offer that they can't?
It is a gigantic field growing even bigger. There is always value for readers to read from different authors the same concept because they might catch it differently.

Does writing interfere with reading?
Not much

If you needed to make a choice in your literary career what would it be: glory and literary recognition or lots of sales and steady income?
Literary recognition... I get my income from investing, although sales is another form of recognition.

The visual is encroaching on the written word. Do you think the written word will retreat and disappear or remain steady?
I don't believe so. You learn differently when you read.

Any valuable marketing tip(s) for fellow authors?
Find a subject in itself that has an interest.

Do you have a WIP and what's exciting about it?
Mentioned earlier and it is not for the near term.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Write about something you are passioned about.

Which writers inspire you?
Michael Crichton
John Grisham
What are your recommendations for reading and why? For example, which book do you consider a must-read (apart from your own, as it's a must-must, of course -:))?
Guide to investing in gold and silver - by Mike Maloney
The Internet of Money - Andreas Antonopoulos

Oh and another important book recommendation:
The Creature from Jekyll Island - by G. Edward Griffin

What non-writing-related things would you like to say about yourself.
Hobbies
Walking, hiking, traveling

Things to do where you live
San Francisco Bay area's ___fill in the blank____

Places you've visited
France, England, Finland
Where I would like next: Mexico, Panama, Spain, Portugal
