I noticed some of you guys were chatting about Illuminae, and I thought: why not create a thread? :D

For those of you that don't know the series yet, this is the series in chronological order:

I still have to pick up Gemina but I’m so excited to get it!

What do you think about the characters? What do you think about how the book was formatted? What was one of your favorite pages? Just discuss anything!

AHHH. I am in love. I have never raved about a sci-fi book so much!

I honest to all things thought both MCs were gonna die in the first book and now they didn't and I was legit crying with so much freaking joy and relief!

I feel really torn about AIDAN. Which makes sense after learning about IRL humans feeling really uncomfortable and ambiguous with artificial life that is super humanoid is this whole area being investigated. If we KNOW it's AI but can relate to it in a human way we begin to feel super weird and uncomfortable.

Because I kinda felt sorry for him. Like it is so shitty that he(?) is aware that he isn't human and has all these drawbacks but he has also developed very humanoid thoughts and feelings.

I'm really curious to see how the series progresses with this whole idea as the humans become more knowledgeable about how ADIAN is developing. (hide spoiler)]

I have Gemina on my shelf! But I have some other books I need to get through first.

(view spoiler)[Ohhh yess, same here!! I was sitting on the edge of my chair and sooo thrilled during the final parts of this book and it just ended in such an epic way! :D

Interesting, Becca! I recently saw a YouTube video in which they listed robots that were predicting 'the end of the human race and rise of robots' (yep, I was on that side of YouTube again xD)
But honestly, it scared the shit out of me :o Two of them were just casually having a conversation about them being superior to the human race and all that, my God...
The thing stated in the article "If we are wary of such machines, it is mainly because it is not clear to us whether they have intentions." pretty much sums up my thoughts about robots as well. I'm not sure whether to trust them because it's simply very hard to read them and their intentions. Also, it's hard to determine whether they experience human feelings like pity and such which could result into them could-blooded murdering someone (this is just worst-case-scenario and my imagination running wild xD)

AIDAN was such an interesting and futuristic character and Jay and Amy really stepped up their game by inserting a non-human/robotic character into their story. (hide spoiler)]

I finished Gemina recently as well, but since you guys haven't read it yet, I won't spoil anything yet :)

(view spoiler)[Hahaha, I love the whole robot/end-of-the-world stuff. Honestly, if humans let it happen it's our own damn fault.

But what your saying is so fitting with the book. Because AIDAN starts off saying that it knows it can make the better decisions because it doesn't have the 'disadvantage' of emotions, but then its intentions start to waver as he seemingly 'learns' emotions.

I am so late but I do have some thoughts on the book that I can’t wait to talk about!

(view spoiler)[ Omg yes I honestly thought they were both going to die and I was about to be so very sad! Especially since in the next book it is two different POVs than in the first book!

Yes AIDAN was so weird. Like I just felt so creeped out but at the same time I felt pity and I just don’t know what to feel because he is an AI and it creeps me out that they might take over the universe and I just can’t.... I completely understand your fear Ayla. Some people think they programmed them to say that but I’m not so sure. Just the whole idea is freaky. I am interested to see how they are developing this in the next book!

Also I loved the romance between Ezra and Kady because it was just so real and they were already lovers before so it wasn’t just out of nowhere. I also really liked all the characters. Poor McNulty and oh god I’m blanking out on the name but the one that helped Kady. Also the guy who was saying the surveillance was really funny.

I’m excited for the next book because it’s going to show us everything that’s happening now and not just everything that already happened. Also I love the fierce interaction with Ezra’s mom at the end to show her that she would bring him down and the last line. Now run. OMG I NEED GEMINA ASAP

How has everyone gone with the Illuminae series so far? Because I recently read Aurora Rising (new scifi by the same duo) and while I didn't give it 5 stars it so much more of the same goodness!

Omg I wanted to read that one! I still haven’t gotten to Gemina (I know.) I’m hopefully going to finish the trilogy this month or next month. And I also want to start Nevernight soon!

Such is the life of a bookworm. I want to read Nevernight too but it's not at the top of my TBR at the moment so that'll probably be a while. The Illuminae Files is still one of the only series that I really want to get a personal copy of.

I own all of them so I really hope to get to them soon! I know that it gets better so I am excited!
