ABANDONED. Book about a girl who lives as a boy in the forest where there are wild horses.

A man is looking to capture the main stallion and he meets the girl. He thinks she is a boy as she is dressed up as one. The book is a historical book and a part of a series I think. The girl used to live in the forest with her father who was a doctor(not sure), but dies due to snake bite. The man realizes she's the only one who can ride the horse as the horse is used to having her around. I think she has red hair which looks like flames when she's riding the horse. Please help me find the book. Thank you.

I read it maybe around 6-7 yrs ago. Its a historical romance book. I think the cover is orange/ yellow color with a girl riding the horse(not sure). Author is female. It is definitely set in US, but I don't remember the region in particular. All I remember is that the hero is a cowboy who wants to capture the wild horse. Also there is a villain who sees the girl riding the horse and wants to capture the girl.
