Kaycee I had so much fun reading this! The author Margaret Peterson Haddix kept me on my toes the entire time in the book Double Identity, where the main character, thirteen year old Bethany, is randomly abandoned by her crazy parents with a long lost relative she’d never known about. Aunt Myrlie tells her all about a life that her parents had before she was born and that she used to have an older sister, Elizabeth, until she passed away around the same age Bethany is now. Bethany then questions her whole life, who she is, and why her parents have lied to her for so long. The new life she’s now living with her Aunt Myrlie and older cousin Joss continues to throw curve balls at her, with receiving a mysterious box from her father that reveals so many hidden secrets about her and her family, and someone strange coming around and asking Bethany questions. The plot thickens and the danger grows and Bethany finds her way through the toughest year of her life. This book hooked me from the beginning and I never felt a dull moment. Even though the book aims more for a lower lexile, I really couldn’t guess how it would end. I think the author did a really good job at keeping the reader guessing and leaving cliff hangers at every chapter. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful read.
