Oooh, I read that one last year and enjoyed it Keriann! The previews for The Snowman movie nudged me to pick it up ^-^
Oh! I love your description of this challenge. Thanks for reminding me of Jo Nesbo! I have some nesbo that I haven't read yet. Also I have a few carter brown books that take place in China. Yay. This will be fun.

How many of Jo Nesbo's books have you read? I've only read one so far.

It's gonna be interesting to hear what you think since this will be your first go! I listened to most of The Bat on audio, but when I try the next one, I think I'm gonna try a physical or ecopy. The impression of the story is different for me between the two formats because the narrator plays a big part in my enjoyment of a story on audio. I do appreciate audio on books that have foreign words though for pronunciation ^-^
Yeah. I've had audiobooks kill a book for me. The first Backstrom book was like that. I really couldn't get in to the reader.
I read the Bat and really liked it and have the next five Nesbo on my shelf. Anyone read Andrea Camilleri (Italy)? I have the first one that I may use for this challenge.
Hi Jill! I have not read that author. I'll definitely need to look into the series ^-^ If you do read the first book in that series, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it!

I read all Camilleri's books and I watched the series. Here in Italy is very famous both the author and the series.Try to read It.
For this challenge, I shall be reading a book which is set in a foreign land in a foreign time: A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters.

I like them a lot. Here in Italy we watch the newest ones in this period.

I’m using this for foreign and new-to-me author
For this challenge, I read The Lying Game by Ruth Ware. I counted this as “foreign” bc it takes place in the UK. Does that count? Lord I hope so! Lol
I chose Crooked House by Agatha Christie as foreign because it takes place in UK and I live in Turkey. I am a big fan of Agatha Christie and really enjoy reading her books. I liked the atmosphere of the book but I have to admit the ending was a bit predictable for readers of detective books.
I rated the book 3 stars.
I’m currently reading “The Tokyo Zodiac Murders” by Soji Shimada. He is a Japanese author and I live in the US. It’s written in the shin hokaku style, which is basically a modernized version of Golden Age detective fiction. I’m a huge fan of Golden Age work, so I picked it up. The premise is brilliant but there have been a couple of chapters that have been really difficult because they were SO fact heavy. Kind of like Dorothy L. Sayers “Five Red Herrings.” I seem to be past that now as the story has picked up. We’ll see how it goes!

I finished the “Tokyo Zodiac Murders.” I enjoyed it, but it was flawed. I posted my review on here if any of you would like to check it out! Has anyone else read it?
I have just finished Postmortem by Patrica Cornwell. It is based in Richmond, Virginia It took me a long while to finish, because of running errands here and there, but I enjoyed every bit of it! This book is filled with suspense and interesting characters that you may either love or hate.. Anyways, the plot is nicely paced and even if the technology mentioned in this book isn't as highly-upgraded as ours today, it still intrigues its readers in knowing how forensic investigation was done back in the day

I have this book sitting next to my bed as I've been meaning to read it FOREVER, but just haven't gotten around to it. Good to know you enjoyed it!

For this challenge, I chose to read Agatha Christie’s “A Pocket Full of Rye.” Since I’m a native U.S. citizen, I figured I’d choose a book that takes place in a different country than mine, also Agatha Christie is a “foreign” author to me because I’ve never read a book of hers until now.
On Sunday, I finished The Neruda Case by Roberto Ampuero. It was translated into English and takes place in several Latin America countries and East Germany back in 1973. It definitely qualifies for foreign. You can read my review at http://world-of-sleuths.blogspot.com/....
