Welcome, Denise! May I ask what kind of yoga you do, and what kinds of yoga books you like to read?

I'm very happy to have stumbled across this group of like-minded individuals!
I have been meditating over the last few years to combat anxiety and have tried yoga before and never really took it too seriously. Then a few months ago, anxiety was building again and I bit the bullet and bought an unlimited yoga pass and haven't looked back. I never could have dreamed of the amazing impact it would have. I attend 4 times a week as I didn't have discipline to practise at home . This has changed as I enjoy exploring poses at home, relishing the process rather than the end result.
I am really looking to develop more of a connection with my body and how it feels during each moment of a pose. I guess I am looking for something that has a more technical basis describing the muscles involved and how they interact. I thought this group would be a great place to learn from those further along in their journey. Very open to any pearls of wisdom being thrown my way :)
Sorry for the essay, I don't have many people to share this passion with.
Hi Fern:
Welcome to the group! I don't know much about anatomy poses, but I highly recommend you read Priscilla Warner's Learning to Breathe, about her own dealing with anxiety through yoga et al. We read it as a group a while back, which you can find in one of the threads.

What a wonderful introduction! It sounds like your delving into yoga has been blissful and transformative.
I would suggest Anatomy of Hatha Yoga, this is sortof the yoga anatomy bible. Full of beautiful illustrations and descriptions. I would suggest the print version vs. kindle version. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Thank you both for replying and for your suggestions :)
I'll be trotting out to the library on my lunch break, list in hand.I'll have a read through the thread as well to see what people thought (of Learning to Breathe).
Also, looking forward to the next book to be read as a group.

I am yoga teacher and own a small studio.
I found yoga about 5-6 years ago and it has saved my life.
