The Field Guide by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi (the entire Spiderwick Chronicles series)
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
Blood Song by Anthony Ryan
I also really enjoyed Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson. Deciding between that, Blood Song, and Between Shades of Gray is difficult.

The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter by Michael J. Sullivan
[book:The Geek Feminist Revolution|2611..."
Oh wow,,,that last book. I didn't know that there were books on thie website that didn't have a description. I wonder why.

Honourable mentions:
1. Paladin of Souls - exquisite and refined. The World of the Five Gods is a superb fantasy, but I believe this series is for a mature and well-versed reader.
2. Inda is one of the best hidden gems under the radar of Goodreads hype I have ever discovered. Inda brings the best of traditional high fantasy laced with a slight YA flavour: the best tropes and arcs reworked in a very imaginative way, magnificent world-building and several fresh ideas that some contemporary celebrated authors pretend to have just discovered themselves.
3. Blood Song seeped into my veins with this heady mixture of ingredients like the best of drugs. I read it with an increasing exhilaration and overwhelming sensation of being overindulged with all the fantasy guilty pleasures. But with the last page, when the drug wore off, I was left with the lingering side effects.

1. Reaper's Gale
4 stars:
2. Warbreaker
3. Age of Swords
Honorable mention goes to The Heartstrikers series. It was such a good surprise, as I normally don't enjoy Urban Fantasy. In January I read 3 of the 4 books already published:
Nice Dragons Finish Last
One Good Dragon Deserves Another
No Good Dragon Goes Unpunished

Red Seas Under Red Skies
Living Dead in Dallas/Club Dead
All 4 I rated 4 stars. Haven't read many 5 star books lately.

I trully enjoyed it, Mayim. If I had to describe this series in one word it would be fun.
I only read three books in January
Monster by Michael Grant
Rampage
Hungry Heart
