Post your challenge suggestions here! What kinds of challenges would you like to see us do in this group in the future? Let us know!

Terrence (grnkrby) | 347 comments How about like a Light Novel Bingo. You read 5 diagonally, vertically, or horizontally and you complete the challenge.

Align them in a way that encourages people to try stuff outside of their comfort zones (1 Isekai, 1 Comedy, 1 drama, 1 female lead, 1 Highschool Setting). You could throw in regular (not light) Japanese novels too and maybe SciFi as a genre for stuff like Haikasoru published books. Could be interesting.

Rose (raddevlin) | 279 comments Here's a few challenge ideas. :)

1 - Publisher variety challenge
Read as many novels from different publishers as you can - one read per publisher. So if you read one novel from Yen On, reading another Yen On novel will not increase your challenge count but reading a novel from J-Novel Club will.

2 - Publisher loyalty challenge
Read as many novels from one publisher as you can. Pretty simple but perhaps too easy?

3 - Read and review challenge
Review as many novels as you can. Retroactive reviews are okay but all reviews should be at least a short paragraph long. All reviews should be for novels that you have read to completion.

I really like that last one, but I'm not sure retroactive reviews could be counted because of how the challenge system on Goodreads works.

Meant to reply earlier. If you'd like to send me a possible bingo card, we can try this challenge in the future. :)

Gerald Stewart | 41 comments So, new guy here, just wanting to ask a question about the current Challenge. Should I make it only books that i haven't read yet, or include things that I am rereading?:) because that will change a lot of things, depending on the answer.:)

The 2022 year-long challenge is for new or rereads. :) As long as it's related to the theme, it's good

Maybe we have another challenge for sequels like we did last summer? Just in Autumn? :0c

message 11: by Gerald (new)

Gerald Stewart | 41 comments Could always do a Challenge of a full series read, that way you can make its a small easy challenge for something that doesn't have a lot out, like 3-5 Vol, or a bigger challenge with a series that has 15-20 vol out. With this you can get a variety of challenges customized to how you want to do it.

message 12: by Gerald (new)

Gerald Stewart | 41 comments Is there going to be a new yearly challenge?:)

message 13: by Gerald (new)

Gerald Stewart | 41 comments So just a quick question on the 10 year challenge. When it said that sequels count as part of it, does that men vol 2+ of light novel series?

message 14: by Selena (new)

Selena Pigoni (sailorstar165) | 1598 comments Mod
Yup! Any volume within the series counts. So if we read volume 1 as a group read in the last 10 years, volumes 1 through the final volume can count toward the challenge

Gerald Stewart | 41 comments cool, thanks
