And who decided which people wore the striped pajamas and which people wore the uniforms?” The boy in “The Striped Pajamas” is an award-winning novel that shows the life of a young Berlin boy who becomes forbidden friends with a young Jewish boy that lives in a concentration camp behind his house. A story with such character should be read. It tells a real story of what happened in history. Reading this book will give you an inside of how life was like during this period and how the people were treated. The book really shows the different personalities of the two characters Shmuel and Bruno and their differences is what pulls them closer. The first page of the book gives you the urge to read more. After meeting Shmuel, Bruno learns that life is not all about fancy things and big houses, but to appreciate what you have and to be grateful for it. The Holocaust was a time in history where more than six million people were murdered by the Nazis. While reading this book you will learn what and how things were being done to the Jews. It’s important to know this history to tell our future what happened during the world before us. In conclusion, this book is a great book with an amazing story of survival: friendship.
