The nominations thread for the March & April Classics Read (PRE 1900) is now open, please suggest your book choices below.

All books need to be seconded by someone else in order to get to the voting stage.

Tess of the D'Urbervilles automatically goes forward to the poll as it was runner up last time, and does not need to be nominated or seconded.

This thread will remain open until 6th February and then will be closed for voting.

Nominated:

New Grub Street
Fathers and Sons
The Awakening
The Odd Women

Nominated and Seconded:

Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Heart of Darkness
Washington Square

I had to teach Heart of Darkness to reluctant students. They hated it. I'd rather not read it again!

Gisela Hafezparast | 242 comments I shall try again. How about the The Odd Women. I looked it up and it should have first been published in 1893. Fingers crossed.
