Today marks our first preview of Twelfth Night at Theatre Calgary, and it will continue to run on our stage until February 24th. I am looking forward to seeing the show this Friday evening, but many of my colleagues took in the dress rehearsal last night and all gave enthusiastic feedback! For tickets you can visit our website at www.theatrecalgary.com or call Audience Services at 403-294-7447.

Today also marks our second discussion of our TC Reads novel, Tipping the Velvet. If you have read this before, or are reading it for the first time with me, you will understand me when I say, "WOWZA!" Sexy, Saucy, thrilling. The words Sarah Waters uses to express the mountain of heart beating anxiety that Nan feels as she falls for Kitty are poetic but beautifully relatable, and I find myself reliving those days when I felt my first love. Of course, this book is not a simple coming-of-age love story, but rather a journey of Nan's emotional and sexual self-discovery.

1. What are your thoughts on Kitty through the first third of this novel? Is she a positive or negative influence on Nan?

2. Nan's confidence really grows as the novel proceeds. What or who do you think motivates this?

3. Performers wear costumes to portray other characters, but we are all guilty of donning items or attire to create an identity, personality or attitude. Think about what you are wearing today. Why did you chose that shirt? Those shoes? That hairstyle?

That's all for today! Have a great week and enjoy reading!!
