Angela | 3 comments I live close enough to Chicago that I easily make day trips there all the time, so I figured this would be an easy one for me. Not only are there a ton of books set in the city, you just notice books' settings more when they mean something to you.
So, if you, too, live in Illinois, I'll add to this as much as possible (do I even need to mention Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth ?) and you will have an easy life.
(I also notice a trend of Boston books in my life, like my current read All We Can Do Is Wait by Richard Lawson , I'll help you MA-ers out, too)
I just finished The Gatekeepers by Jen Lancaster , which I chose based on the cover (how I choose most of my books). It was really good YA, and though I've never read 13 Reasons Why, I would suggest it to anyone that was into that book/show. Also, Gayle Foreman and Lauren Oliver fans. Oh, the whole point of this: it takes place in fictional North Shore, IL, which is a stand-in for any of the John Hughes suburbs.

Emily Leyland (emilyleyl) | 18 comments Living in Connecticut this topic is MUCH harder for me. Sometimes it feels like CT is only represented by some fancy family that summers here when they're not in NYC (except the Baby Sitters Club - that was exciting as a kid!), but that is not my CT experience. I was able to scrounge up a few books, but this is a topic where I could use all the help I could get. If there's anyone else from CT looking for reads (if you are, hit me up and we can be real life friends!), here are my recommendations:
Before I Fall Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
My Life Next Door My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
The Unexpected Everything The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Kathryn | 62 comments Started this today and discovered it's set in Michigan! I had planned to search out a Michigan book set in a more rural area like the UP (and still will). Alas, most people assume that Michigan = Detroit. :( This one started elsewhere in Michigan but quickly transitioned there. But for now, reading:

Theresa (tabby1249) | 1 comments If you’re looking for a book series set in N. Carolina, Asheville in particular, consider the fantasy series by Alicia Hyder, Soul Summoners. It’s well written with a female protagonist who gets stronger as the series progresses and two male protagonists who are pretty terrific from the get-go.

Books 1-4 are available on Kindle Unlimited, book 5 is available for purchase and the 6th and final book of the series is coming out in Summer, 2018. It deals with angels, human-angel hybrids and demons fighting for the future of the world. It’s well written, has a strong romance element and avoids getting bogged down in religion or mythology. I binge-read all of the books currently available.

Lindsay (lindsaymccomber) | 6 comments I got lucky because I read Emergency Contact for BBC and it just so happens to have taken place in TX. And I even got some of the Texas inside jokes. I loved this one!

Rain 🌧️ | 1 comments I love that The Raven Boys is set in Virginia. It's hard to find books set in my (mundane//boring) home state, but somehow the author, Stiefvater, created an entire series set in VA and made it whimsical and beautiful.
