This week I'm reading Why I Need You and Why I Left You by Colette Davison.

Stacey (staceyissassy) I read my ARC of Brooklynaire on the weekend and absolutely loved it. Nate and Becca's story was great and exactly what I hoped for.

I listened to the audio of The Guardian by Margaret Mallory and enjoyed it. Not really a sweet romance but it seemed very historically accurate.

I'm now reading an ARC of Captive Lies and then Hot Shot.

I stayed up way too late last night reading an ARC of Mary Balogh's Someone to Care (Westcott, #4) by Mary Balogh , one of my most highly anticipated books of 2018. I spent the first half a bit disappointed because the hero lacked complexity, but I loved the second half. Today I am reading The River House by Carla Neggers , the next Swift River Valley book.

Irisheyes | 896 comments Finally finished Duke of Desire by Elizabeth Hoyt. I wasn't as put off by its darkness as some were, but it didn't hold my interest as much as her books usually do. It was an okay read but I'm hoping for more from her Christmas novella that I believe is truly the last book in this series.

I also made another dent in my Kristan Higgins glom with Too Good to Be True and My One and Only. Both excellent reads and over way too soon. I am in awe of KH's talent at taking me from laughter to tears back to laughter in every one of her books!

Right now I'm in the middle of Act Like It by Lucy Parker and loving it (Thank you Manda and AAR for the rec)!!! I'm so excited to have found a new author. Unfortunately, this is her first book and only one other is published... so no backlist to glom. LOL I really like the setting (London present day - stage actors), plot (kind of modern day MOC-ish), and the characterizations are great - adults acting like adults.

Stacey and Janga - extremely jealous of the Bowen and Balogh ARCs! Happy to hear they will be worth the wait, though.

Leigh-Ayn | 1214 comments I am reading a trilogy that I stumbled across by Juliana Gray called A Princess in hiding. I am up to book 3. I find it interesting as all three books are set in the same time frames so things that happen in book 1, also happen in book 2 and 3 and you get the perspective of the other sisters!

Susan (susaninaz) | 1075 comments I'm happily into The Secret Life of Violet Grant by Beatriz Williams. Seriously, this novel earned every accolade several times over. The humor in the beginning is an unexpected bonus: not generally mentioned in reviews, but so evocative of Julia Quinn's witty dialog.

1. So looking forward to Brooklynaire and the upcoming Balogh. Happy to hear you liked them Stacey and Janga!

2. Yay, Irish! Aren't the Lucy Parker books wonderful? She has one more book published under a different name - - Ellie something? And the third London Theatre book comes out in a few months I think. It's on Netgalley.

3. Leigh-Ayn and Susan, do you guys know that Juliana Gray and Beatriz Williams are the same person? I love the serendipity of y'all posting next to each other like that.

4. My slump continues. But, I did manage to read a couple of stories in the latest ROGUE ACTS anthology and one of my favorites was a novella by Ruby Lang. I'd bought her Practice Perfect trilogy when it was on sale a while ago so I read the first book in it Acute Reactions which I enjoyed. Her characters are a bit different from the usual contemporary--the three heroines went to med school together-- and I really like her voice. I'm really looking forward to the next one in the trilogy Hard Knocks which has a hockey player hero and a doctor heroine. I'll keep you posted.

No, I did not know that. However, I also love to read Juliana Gray novels.

Leigh-Ayn, since you like the Princess in Hiding books, you should also read Gray's novella The Duke of Olympia Meets His Match. I also recommend the loosely connected A Most Extraordinary Pursuit. I became a Juliana Gray fan with her first series, Affairs by Moonlight.

I think Meredith Duran is one of the best writers in the genre. Her upcoming book, The Sins of Lord Lockwood is amazing. It has a connection to Duke of Shadows, her first book, so you will likely be hearing lots of buzz about both after this month. Duran has been on my auto-buy list since I read DOS.
