Problem with ISBN

This edition has an invalid ISBN. I have a copy of this edition (my copy was published in April 1973). The ISBN isn't printed in the colophon or on the back cover. There is, however, a number printed on the spine which reminds of an ISBN: 449-01807-150.

This would also seem to explain the creation of this edition which has been given the ISBN 0449018075, which is valid.

Neither of these ISBNs can be validated through Amazon or WorldCat? (Unless some librarian would consider this scanty Amazon entry sufficiently authoritative.)

Any takers?

Hi, I dont want to start new topic (this one looks the closest) but I found a book which looks like it hasnt got an ISBN code. Its this book (in Czech edition):
Malé černé a devět žen
ISBN is this: 978-80-7359-521-0

Did you perhaps enter the information I discussed as a librarian's note? That might be a good idea.

Good idea. I wrote a note stating that 449-01807-150 is printed on the spine, but is not an actual ISBN and should not be attributed to this or any edition.
