• Deflect Missiles: Starting at 3rd level, you can use your reaction to deflect or catch the missile when you are hit by a ranged weapon attack. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your monk level.
If you reduce the damage to 0, you can catch the missile if it is small enough for you to hold in one hand and you have at least one hand free. If you catch a missile in this way, you can spend 1 ki point to make a ranged attack with the weapon or piece of ammunition you just caught, as part of the same reaction. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be Stunned until the end of your next turn.
• Way of The Open Hand Technique: Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your enemy’s ki when you harness your own. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one of the following effects on that target:
•It must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked Prone.
•It must make a Strength saving throw. If it fails, you can push it up to 15 feet away from you.
•It can’t take reactions until the end of your next turn.
Appearance: Stading at 5'9" and weighing 140 pounds, Travis is a broad shouldered, lean muscled man with close trimmed black hair and a beard. He has blue eyes and a small scar through his right eyebrow and multiple scars on his back and arms.
Personality: Travis is the perfect soldier: Unquestioningly loyal, disciplined, and motivated. He may often seem like a jerk at times and can be very blunt. He'll tell you to your face if he doesn't like you and doesn't try to get along.
History: On September 18, 2021, Travis Steele was born in South Carolina, before his family moved to New York. When he was ten, Travis' mother died of the infection. His father took to drinking in his grief and became abusive. At 11, Travis began to steal money from him to attend self defense classes in order to protect himself. A year later, these proved to be useful when Travis barely escaped a Ceph attack with his life. He and his father moved again, this time to Texas. Travis began taking Kuk Sool Won (The national martial art of South Korea) and Brazillian Jujitsu. At fifteen, he began competing in MMA tournaments, and at eighteen, held the state championship title, before joining the army. He was further trained in Korean and Krav Maga. Travis was a good soldier and did what he was told without question. He was engaged in the firefight against the rebels in 2042, where he lost his best friend. When the exoskeletons were released, he is chosen as a pilot and retrained to be an Elite Special Forces Unit. He was again chosen to be part of the Spec Ops team that took out the jamming tower in New York two years later. Later the same year he was part of the raid on England. When US troops were transferred back to the US, Travis spent the next two years fighting a losing battle against the UKR. After a short period of time away from the army, mostly spent living on the streets, Travis reluctantly agreed to come back for one last chance at finishing what he started.
