Reaper's plan seems really stupid. I don't remember this guy they let out of prison (you're shocked, aren't you?), but it sounds like he killed a bunch of Reaper's friends, and is batshit crazy. I don't see how this plan will work out anything like they expect.
I do like the new Obsidian "Tongueless". I hope we find out his backstory. If the dog likes him though, he must be good though, right?
I don't really get the whole subplot with Reaper's niece. I guess we'll see how that fits in later. Hopefully she's not just there to be some tragic death that weighs on his conscience/alienates him from his brother.
When Lyria meets Ephraim (I had to just look up his name now), I didn't realize he was disguised, but I assumed he was going to con her. I hoped I was wrong until we got into his chapter and it was confirmed. I didn't realize what he was using her for until they kidnapped Pax and Sevro's oldest daughter.
I'm glad she wasn't left behind, since as it was obvious from the setup (I assume she was setup by Ephraim for the theft. Was that his red henchman?) even the suggestion from a gold that she stole something was enough to get her in big trouble. The other servants all saw the drone come from her necklace, so there is no way she wouldn't have been considered a co-conspirator regardless of what she said.
My theory is that Ephraim's new boss has been hired either by Dancer (I hope not) or maybe by the Ash Lord, to blackmail Mustang/Reaper, Sevro/Victoria to do something.
Either way I'll be surprised if they are actually paid/go free and aren't double crossed. If it's Dancer, they have a chance, but the Ash Lord and they are dead.
I feel really bad for Lyria. I'm hoping she ends up befriending Pax and helping to keep him safe. I liked their interaction in the gardens. She's had a shitty time of it so far in this book.
Cassius has been found out and now he must duel for his and Lysander's life. This probably won't end well. I still don't remember Lysander, but I'm not a fan so far. I will say either the narrator improved his volume, or maybe the recording is better because while he's still quiet I'm not having to strain like I was at the beginning of the book.

Gah I'm on Chapter 53 now, but was gone all day and couldn't comment. BUT at least it is fresh in my memory. So Darrow et al. - they are lucky it is my favorite narrator, because I've lost patience with the lot of them. What a totally stupid plan. (I didn't remember the prisoner either.) But geez - he pretty much overpowered them when he was naked and they were wearing armor and weapons? And he's evil? I remain pissed at Darrow. Although I am interested in Tongueless.
I agree that Lysander's sections have gotten louder. Couldn't they have fixed that for the whole book? It shows how mad I am at most other characters that I am kind of liking Cassius. He decided what he was doing is helping the greater good and is willing to fight/die for it.
Ephriam (more on him next section) - it was clear that Lyria was set up at the museum by him, and he sure preyed on her loneliness. I bet you are right - it was his red henchman. I too was glad he took Lyria with them.
Lyria - she and Volga are the only characters I like at the moment. Well I like Pax too - he seems like a really nice kid. Too bad his father is an idiot. It's sad how lonely she is. I knew as soon as he gave her the necklace that it would be trouble =( And yeah, she's in huge trouble since she has witnesses that will testify she brought down the aircraft.
I HATED seeing Telemanus get shot. Boo!
Yeah, Darrow hasn't pissed me off this much since the first book, which I almost quit.
I forgot to mention that I do like Vulgar, even though she shot Telemanus. I hope he's not dead. I also hope she convinces Ephraim to do the right thing.
