I'm up to chapter 12. I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm not sure I like any of the new POVs. I definitely think the narrator for Lysander is way too quiet.

I love Tim Gerard Reynolds as a narrator, so I'd totally have been fine if he did the whole book, or at least all the male parts.

I don't remember Lysander and I have no idea who the beat up gold he rescued might be.

Reaper seems to be in big trouble. I think he's right that the armistice wasn't genuine, but that won't matter to the Senate.

We've also got an oppressed Red whose brother was killed by terrorists and a thief. Not really sure where those POVs are going yet.

Suzanne | 1582 comments I was disappointed in the different point of views, but it was mostly because Tim Gerard Reynolds is my favorite narrator. So it is hard for me to give the others a chance. Grrr....

My audiobook says I'm on Chapter 18, so spoilers below are through there:

I kind of wanted to think after the last book that they all lived happily ever after, but it sure wasn't that simple. I think Reaper handled things ok with the Senate - I'm glad he decided to leave vs. civil war. I felt bad that he split with the Obsidians although I can understand their reasoning.

I too have to turn up the volume on Lysander sections. He was the heir to the throne pre-rising. He seemed like a good kid then, and he seems like a nice enough kid now.

The girls section kind of feels like another Darrow-type story, although seeing that promises of freedom weren't met is important. I loved seeing Telemanis and his jelly beans again.

The thief guy - eh - we'll see where it goes.

Suzanne | 1582 comments Ok I just finished Part 1.

Even before the fight, I feel like Reaper made a poor decision. He rebelled so he could set up the republic, and now he is totally disregarding the government he set up because he thinks they are wrong. Even if he is correct, there must be better ways. And then with the fight where he basically kills a friend....well - grr... I know he's all angsty and stuff - but I just don't have sympathy for him. At this point he SHOULD go to jail.

And...that's my vent =)

But I still like Tim Gerard Reynolds best :)

Suzanne | 1582 comments (I'm actually gonna take a break from this tomorrow and re-listen to Redshirts because I'm pissed. Lol - I got so mad in the last book too. Pierce Brown is toying with my emotions! )

Yeah agree about Reaper. I think he's right that the armistice is a ploy, buy when his wife out maneuvered him, he should have just surrendered. Now he's made an already bad situation so much worse.

I LOVE the Talamanis family. I'm hoping Lyra's story gets more interesting.

As far as the thief, his story potentially got more interesting, but of course Brown is withholding what exactly he's been hired to steal. It seems to have

I might like Lysander more if I could hear more of his story despite max volume and constant straining. His actions were dumb. They are in a bad way because apparently he saved the Rim Lord's daughter. Luckily Cassius disguised himself.
