B L O S S O M[ vocalist ]━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
aged 2 5+ (view spoiler)
HYUNKYUNG HAS NEVER been anyone special. She isn't the best vocalist in the group, the prettiest member, the most charming one. No matter how much she might try, she's just not the type to make headlines. And she did try, at first. But with time and age, she's realized that maybe she doesn't want to be the member in the spotlight: she loves standing onstage to perform with the other members, but she also loves the freedom of being able to go home and live life (mostly) normally.

It is hard, sometimes, to see people commenting on videos of Blossom, an eight-year-old group, not knowing who she is. When people notice her, it feels like some backhanded compliment — after her appearance on King of Masked Singer, people asked, Has she always been able to sing like this? And it made her feel good, because they thought she was good — but she's also always been this good, but they never noticed before. It's a sticky place in between, and Hyunkyung knows to be thankful for what she has. And she is. She's glad to be a part of Blossom, and she loves the other members, and she loves doing what she does. It's just a little hard to not wonder — what if that was me on the cover of ELLE? what if that was me promoting a solo album? what if I had worked a little harder back then?

L E ED AH E E

┗━━━━━━━━adonis + 29 + (view spoiler)━━━━━━━━┛

LEE DAHEE, a.k.a. Adonis' lead vocalist, the nation's visual, the ideal type of every male celebrity, is ready to retire from the idol life. It's been a good ten years — well. Most of it has been good, but it was only a matter of time. Treated by her company and fans alike as little more than the group's beauty, Dahee never got much acknowledgement for her actual skills as a group member. Time went on, Adonis reached the peak of their career, and Dahee got fewer and fewer lines with every song. But Dahee has always tried to be patient, tried to be understanding; she knew that the other members had improved since debut too, she shouldn't be selfish about such trivial things when she still got the same amount of screen time. She could handle it.

Then in 2012, during preparations for a solo debut EP, she was involved in a car collision which landed her in the ICU for half a week. It was something that shifted her place in the group, both in her performance contributions and her relationships with the other members. Her doctors told her she couldn't dance, the company told her to promote Adonis elsewhere while Nara got her solo debut instead. More practice and activities brought her a re-injury two years later, and this time, the doctors told her, that if it happened again, she'd never be able to dance again. After discussions with B.D. Entertainment, it was decided that, for the sake of her health, she would participate in Adonis' albums, music videos, and variety show promotions, but not onstage. But even that dwindled down, and despite her steady acting and modeling career, Dahee isn't happy. She came here to sing — she came her to sing, and that's what she wants to do.

Dahee asked, again, for a solo debut — begged the company to let her. She doesn't have to dance. She just wants to sing. But she's just not marketable anymore, they said. She can't dance anymore, she brings in less profit for the company now than any of the other members, the public doesn't want her anymore. She's getting older. She seems lazy. Lee Dahee thinks she's better than the other members just because she used to be pretty, the forums say. She doesn't even contribute anything anymore, she just uses the Adonis name for her own gain. I saw her do the L.I.E. point dance on Happy Together, she obviously can still dance, she just doesn't promote with them anymore because she's lazy.

Lee Dahee doesn't even care about Adonis, they say.

AT AGE TWENTY-FOUR, MOON YOO MI IS READY TO TAKE BACK WHAT IS HERS.

Once the country's beloved maknae, Moon Yoo Mi had tasted the love of the public. At one point the member of ADONIS with the highest number of fansites and largest CF earnings, she was beloved for her sweet, innocent image — one that was shattered in 2014 when compromising images were leaked of her and Byun Kwang Soo, revealing their then five-month affair.

Although ADONIS has remained the indisputable nation's #1 girl group in earnings and in name, Yoo Mi says that she feels her career has "suffered" from her dating scandal.

I was only twenty-one, Yoo Mi says, voice strained with emotion. I was in love. I wanted to spend every waking hour with him. I wanted to shout our relationship from the rooftops. And I never wanted to hurt him — how could I? He was my first love, and the press ruined us. After the photos submitted to Picdash by an anonymous individual were released, the young couple's honeymoon phase was shattered.

What did I ever do wrong? she asks, tears in her eyes. Since when is love a crime?

But perhaps that source wasn't so anonymous, after all. I know who did it, Yoo Mi says, a fire behind her eyes. I know who did it, and they completely violated my trust in people. They couldn't look past their jealousy and couldn't just take it out on me, but targeted him, too — what kind of person is that? How could a person do that? If you have a problem with me, fine. I know I can't make everyone happy. But tell me to my face. Don't take it out on people who aren't even involved.

When asked if the source in question was a member of ADONIS, Yoo Mi said, Does it matter? Either way, it isn't something I can ever forgive. I'm not someone you should mess with. They hurt me, and someone I cared about, and I will certainly get my revenge.

NARI

STAGE NAME: Nari (나리)
KOREAN NAME: Dang Na-ri (당나리)
ENGLISH NAME: Victoria Dang
POSITION: Visual, vocalist, dancer
NATIONALITY: American
BIRTHDAY: January 3, 1999
ZODIAC SIGN: Capricorn
HEIGHT: 165 cm ( 5 ft 5 in )
BLOOD TYPE: A
SPECIALTIES: English, tongue twisters, KHC impersonation
SCANDAL: When on a variety show with Han Donghyun,
senior idol and original Hallyu star from 2004 boy group
B.L.U.E, she addressed him as ahjussi... which didn't go
over too well with his loyal fans of fourteen years.
SECRET: Was mandated by her orthodontist to wear her
reverse headgear all the time, including to school, from
seventh grade through tenth grade. She has done what she
can to destroy photographic evidence.

DANG NA RI, also known as Victoria Dang, has never been in need or want. Born to two more-than-successful parents in Brentwood, California, has always gotten anything she wanted. So when, at age fifteen, she declared that she wanted to be a K-Pop star, her parents arranged for her audition. (Does it help that her uncle was KHC's old friend from high school? Maybe, but no one needs to know.)

It's not that Nari doesn't work hard — she does, just as much as everyone else. She just complains for every moment of it. It's not even sincere complaining so much as her vicious desire to always be the center of everyone's attention. Because listen: when you have a face like Nari's, you deserve to be in the spotlight. Do people reduce her to Bliss' talentless visual who only got into the group through family connections despite her solidly well-rounded skills? Maybe, but at least she's getting attention, unlike some of the "talented" members of Bliss. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

K I MI NH Y E

F E M A L ET W E N T Y - S I XA U T H O RB A R I S T A

Many know author Shin Jun-young — but few know the woman behind the pen name, Kim In-hye. With romance novels translated into Japanese, Chinese, English, and more, and both drama and film adaptations, as well as international anime hit Rewind You, Shin Jun-young is said to "know a woman's heart better than anyone else." With the perfect balance of sensuality and tenderness, of heart and humor, Shin's novels are the heart-fluttering modern classic for women of all ages.

In the real world, Kim In-hye is a barista. She needs something to use as an excuse for how she makes her living, because it's not as though anyone outside of the publishing company knows that she is the brain behind South Korea's #1 bestseller of 2016. And, well, she can't tell anyone, because not only does that ruin the novelty of Shin being a man who understands the deeply felt emotions of a woman — but she's also pretty sure no one would actually believe her, considering she's never been in a relationship that lasted more than three dates.

KANGSUN-HEE

T W E N T Y - S I XA C T R E S SM O D E LF A S H I O ND E S I G N E R
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

KANG SUN-HEE: Hallyu icon, celebrity royalty, entrepreneur, go-getter. At age seven, Canadian born Kang "Sunny" Sun-hee was scouted when visiting her grandparents in Seoul. At age nine, she had her break-out role in Calling You. At age sixteen, she had countless CF deals and was regarded as the nation's little sister. At age seventeen, she walked at Seoul Fashion Week, and one year later, Paris. At age twenty, she won Best Actress for the first time, and on her birthday, no less. At age twenty-three she earned her MBA. At age twenty-four? She got tired of modeling other designers' clothes and said fuck it, I'll do it myself.

Her ambition knows no limits, and her instincts rarely fail her. She has the experience, the brains, the fame, the public favor. Everything can come down to that. No matter what she does, she has confidence. She can take it on, whatever they throw at her. She's Kang fucking Sun-hee, real-life Wonder Woman, and she might just be the best around.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ S C A N D A L
When she took a role, the last lead casting announced, in Ascending Sun, a drama with idol and rookie actor Son Jae-hyung as one of the male leads, people wondered why on earth Kang fucking Sun-hee would be stooping to a low-budget production with idol actors. But then the drama turned out to be a new cult classic, and her chemistry with Jinx's Jason? Well, it won them the Best Drama Couple award when he wasn't even the first lead. And when there's that kind of connection, that's how rumors start...

Faced years of sexual harassment and assault at the hands of her former entertainment agency's CEO. At the beginning of 2016 upon her contract expiration she left the company on "good terms," but now faces fear of the potential release of compromising photographs should she misstep.

K I MS U J I ,21

red carpet's lead vocalist
viral fancam of her yawning during bravo's gda performance
severe fear of the dark

AS ONE OF the younger members of her group, many would expect Kim Suji to be cute. She's not. She's not cute, thank you very much — and, truthfully, this is a combination of her complete lack of aegyo skills, constant whining, and unbreakable resolve to be Red Carpet's mature and sexy lady. (Yeah, okay, she's still working on the mature part of that.)

The reality is that Kim Suji is a gigantic baby. Scared of everything? Check. Expects to be babied? Check. Relentless complaining, juvenile jokes, total inability to fulfill mundane tasks? Check, check, and check. At debut, Suji had a Tough Girl™ image. She has the girl crush visual, right? Right? As it turns out, about two years in, everyone realized that she was bluffing. This was further showcased in her appearance on Law of the Jungle, after which the fanmade kim_suji_scream_compilation.mp4 went viral. In response to criticism from CANDYKISS member Jangmi for her "incompetent", "spoiled", and "disrespectful" viral videos, Suji posted on SNS: "At least I can go viral. Hope CANDYKISS comes back soon. Haven't seen unnie since 2014 XOXO". Perhaps Kim Suji isn't as far from the bad bitch that she wants to be, after all.

KIM TAERI [ R U B Y ]
18 + JBF [ vocalist ] + (view spoiler)

RUBY IS CUTEFrom her aegyo-filled wink in the Pick Me music video to her sweet-as-candy audition song, Kim Taeri, better known by her stage name Ruby, has worked hard to establish her place as Just Be Produced and JBF's cutie. Ruby has gained popularity from boys and girls alike — some who want to date her, some who want her to be their little sister, and some who for the life of them just want to get her (perhaps obnoxiously) addictive Oppaya out of their head.

After earning first place in the Cheer Up team for Just Be Produced's concept evaluation, Ruby was able to secure her place in JBF in the final episode at rank #6. Since then, she's been happily enjoying her time with the rest of JBF. Because Ruby's a great team player, right? Right. Well. It's not a big deal. Ruby just has to not bite anyone else for the rest of the year until their contracts end in January and she can be reunited with the Pyramid Entertainment trainees she belongs with. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it seems, not when she manages to pick a fight with one of the other JBF members at least once a day.

S O N GA H R A
twenty-fivecafé owner(view spoiler)

FOR AS LONG as she can remember, Song Ahra has loved food. Who doesn't? So when she inherited the café at the bottom of the Moonlight luxury apartment complex after the previous owner retired, she was thrilled. Firstly because she was about to graduate and enjoyed the idea of not being unemployed, and then secondly because she'd loved working at the café — and thirdly, she'd be able to spend the majority of her time around the thing she loves most (the afore-mentioned food).

Yukyung had always been the type to thrive on interacting
with others — outgoing, always smiling, though at times
stubborn and hot-tempered. She'd always been the ambitious,
independent type, but alongside Youngmin, there was something
different — he brought something out of her that otherwise
wouldn't exist if she skated alone. Along with him, they became
national sports heroes, earning three world champion trophies
and two Olympic gold medals hand in hand.

SHIN YUKYUNG / 26 years / female / (now ex-) OLYMPIAN SKATER ( x )

The day Shin Yukyung heard the news was the day it all
ended. They'd almost perfected a routine for an upcoming
competition when the accident happened. For a split second,
Yukyung wondered what would happen to her now that her
partner was injured. Wracked with guilt with how selfish the
thought had been, Yukyung hasn't been in the public eye ever
since (attracting an onslaught of angry netizens), dedicating
her time to taking care of an albeit reluctant Youngmin and
teaching ice skating for a local community centre.

JANG TAEHA
eighteen ∙ singer + songwriter ∙ member of monochrome

It's hard to quite pin down what exactly the brother-sister duo do genre wise — and it's equally as difficult to pin down what Taeha is like, too. On stage, she gives off a mysterious aura, but off stage in interviews, she's like any other cheerful teenage girl, approachable, excitable and sweet. It's often said that her only hobby is to thoroughly embarrass her brother Taeyang at any opportunity possible — and they might be right. After all, they pretty much only have each other to rely on ever since their parents passed away, and old habits die hard — even less than savoury means of cheering each other up.

At any rate, Taeha isn't one to be chained down too easily, whether this be people's expectations of her or whatever rules she'd been given. The agency that'd scouted them initially wanted her to debut in a girl group, but she insisted threatened that she would have to debut with her brother under any circumstances. So something silly like a dating ban isn't going to stop her — the heart wants what the heart wants. And if her heart wants her to go off and date some idol boy while her brother is off doing military service, who cares?

P.S. That Lovestagram-slash-couples-instagram-account that everyone says is hers? Untrue, obviously. I mean, you can't even see their faces — how can you know for sure that it's Monochrome's Taeha?

MOON SEOLA · 16 years
  gg: irismaknae && lead rapper

Seola — aka Solar — is the perfect maknae: filled with aegyo and cuteness and could charm her way out of everything. She has perfected the art of the pout. Of course, that doesn't really correspond with how she's actually the eldest sibling back home, not to mention the elder sister of three identical triplets, or how she's actually Iris' lead rapper. (So far, though, this reverse charm thing is going well for her.) She has an endearing, sweet personality and is hard to offend — though she has a tendency to sulk when things don't go her way.

Every 16 year old has their own version of a dark past, though — when she was 12, she thought it'd be really cool if she was all edgy and stuff, so there may be a photo of her raising her middle finger whilst making a duck face floating around on the internet. Maybe.

P.S. It's not a problem if she's stolen a couple of her uncle's cigarettes to have a smoke once or twice, right? She stopped after three times because it just kind of hurt to do, so it's fine, right?

Eunji has had to fight the whole way to get to where she is now, and it's been an uphill battle. She wasn't lucky enough to be born into money, or with the brain of a genius. No; Kim Eunji is just a poor girl from Busan, struggling her way through school and student loans in hopes that one day she might be able to take care of her mother and her sisters, because God knows the father she's never known sure hasn't.

She's just another person doing her best, and sometimes, that's what's hardest — it feels like her best just isn't good enough. And sometimes it's not. It's frustrating, because she's always thought she could do better — but what if she can't? What if she's too far out of her league and she's going to come crashing to the ground? She's afraid. She's terrified. But she's sacrificed far too much to give up now, so she's going to keep on fighting.

Chart-topper, acclaimed actress, style icon, visionary philanthropist, and international superstar opens up about success, influence, and the never-ending cycle of creativity.

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN DEBUTING as a record-breaking solo artist in 2011 and launching the United Nations #SPEAK_OUT campaign in 2017, Nara has become much more than a pop idol. Which isn't to say she's let go of her performance-based roots — her album pre-release, "Fly Away", achieved All-Kill status hours after its initial release and continues to maintain its no.1 spot nearly two weeks later. But Nara has proven time and time again that she is so much more than the content she creates. She is an unstoppable creative whirlwind, setting records (only to break them months later) with unprecedented skill and grace. She never settles, constantly reflecting and recreating, tackling everything that comes her way on her own terms.

"Self-confidence is a learned virtue." Nara admits, sitting cross-legged in a black leather recliner as a stylist touches up her eye shadow. "I remember the days when I'd have to hold onto one of my Adonis members as I walked off a stage — that's how bad my legs were shaking. Sometimes, it's still hard. The negativity comes crashing down and you have to remember how to get back on your feet, five-inch stilettos and all."

But whatever insecurity Nara may have backstage vanishes the moment she's handed a mic. "There are no words to describe what it's like when I'm up on stage. Maybe heaven? I don't know — it still feels too good to be true."

JEON NARA KNOWS better than anyone what it means to break the boundaries. Musically, she's covered everything from sweet pop to provocative R&B, mixing in some heartfelt ballads and rock-inspired melodies every now and then. She refuses to be typecast in dramas and films, going after roles that "push beyond my own scope of humanity."

Most importantly, she's reinventing the influence celebrities have on the culture at large, going so far as to partner with the U.N. for an anti-bullying and suicide awareness campaign. "#SPEAK_OUT was something I wanted to do for a long time," says Nara. "I know firsthand what it's like to be trapped in the cycle of emotional abuse that so many young people are subjected to. That's why it's so important that we speak out."

Of course, Nara was quick to admit that the phrase "speak out" could be a double-edged sword. Having suffered her fair share of backlash over some ill-phrased criticisms concerning A-Prince member and fellow label-mate GUN, the singer confessed it's often difficult to know when you should speak up and when you should keep your mouth shut. "Of course there needs to be some discretion involved. Nothing's going to get solved if all we do is point fingers." But to Nara, that's exactly why the #SPEAK_OUT campaign so important. "We're providing a space where people can not only talk and be heard, but learn and grow. If we are able to foster a community of acceptance, positive change is guaranteed to follow."

FOR YOUR CONCERN

a grunge photoseries of city life from the perspective of the disenchanted
Article by Hana Dulton

Alden Cowell's international photoseries has found its newest location, and one of the hottest subjects. Pictured above is the famed Park Mina, twenty-six year old main vocalist and dancer of the South Korean girl pop group, Adonis. Cowell says she didn't talk much during their shoot which took them around the city of Seoul, but when she did she sounded "tired". Which works out perfectly for Cowell considering the subject matter. When asked about other aspects of her person, he said that she, "was fairly indifferent, but did offer up suggestions if she felt inclined to." The singer is often noted for being stand-offish or coming off as particularly contemptuous, as per one variety show appearance where she remained unmoved by the antics of the cast and her group mates.

Park recently posed for Marie Claire in a beautifully simple concept that was apparently of her own conception. Cowell said he posed a question about this and another possible collaboration, but was given no definite response on the matter. Regardless of the coldness of the model in question, Cowell's series turned out to be quite stunning.

Pictured below: Park Mina posed in a train passing through the city.

The idol may not have supplied much information about herself, but her fans certainly did. At one point during the shoot, Cowell says a gaggle of fans approached them with cameras and questions ready. Some fans inquired about her health, but were dismissed with both thanks and reassurances that she was fine. The same could be said for allegations of leaving the star-studded group, but her answer was a lot more cryptic: simply a smile. Cowell says he got a picture of the moment, which is also featured in the gallery. As per Cowell's initial feelings, there's something both tired and determined in her smile that gives off a hint of something foreboding — like maybe idol group Adonis is doomed to lose a member, as has become so common in long standing groups.

Ever since her 2012 debut, Kim Minah, usually credited simply as MINAH, has made one thing clear — she's a woman on a mission. The rapper, aged twenty-six, has said before that she creates her music to empower other women. “When the odds are stacked against you,” she said, “you've gotta stick together. We as humans aren't meant to do things alone.” (But, she added, smiling slyly, that doesn't mean we have to do it with men, either.)

Being a team player hasn't, of course, made Minah's path an easy one. Over the years she's had her fair share of hardship, and her bluntly progressive lyrics and image have been met with criticism. In 2014 it was revealed that she had once trained under ZH Entertainment and had prepared to debut as a new member of second generation girl group GENESIS, but ultimately was dropped by the company for “attitude issues”. Minah has since admitted that she might not have always been the most agreeable person, but that she and the company had had “irreconcilable differences” in the direction which they wanted her image to take.

“You don't have to like me,” Minah says. “A lot of people don't. I'm fine with that, and I'm not going to give the public a watered-down version of myself to try to make people happy.”

BREAKING THE GLASS CEILING: Ji Eun's "Don't Know You" Achieves Perfect All-Kill

In 2012, American-born singer-songwriter Ji Eun debuted to little fanfare. Now, six years later, Ji Eun has earned her second Perfect All-Kill with Don't Know You, the leading single from her first full-length studio album.

“When ‘Star’ reached a Perfect All-Kill last year, I kept pinching myself,” Ji Eun says, and then she laughs, admitting, “I keep doing it now too. It feels almost too good to be true.”

Ji Eun, 25, has not had an easy path to the top. Born in San Jose, California, Eun always knew that music was her passion. When she was fifteen, she moved to live with her aunt and uncle in Los Angeles in hopes of breaking into the music industry. After being told that she was not marketable in America and there wasn’t a place for “someone like her,” Eun re-located to Seoul for university and to pursue her musical career.

“It was really hard,” Ji Eun says. After moving to a new and foreign country, Eun had to completely re-adjust to a new culture. “It was really hard, but I don’t regret any of it.” At eighteen, Ji Eun had signed with HS K&T, and at nineteen, made her debut. It was only after years of pushing her self-produced music that Ji Eun had an overnight breakthrough with her 2017 song “Star.”

The singer-songwriter and rapper has said that she hopes she can inspire other women who love music, as well as other Asian-Americans who are told that they cannot have a career. “Everyone has always told me that I can’t do it,” Ji Eun says. With a smile, she adds, “But I’m doing it anyway.”

“It’s not easy being in a new country. It’s not easy being a woman making hip-hop music. It’s even harder to be both of those things.” Before her 2017 breakthrough, Ji Eun says, she went through a dark time. “I felt very unmotivated, very anxious and insecure,” she says. “I kept asking myself, ‘Should I just go back home?’” It was the hardest experience she’s ever had, she says, and she does not want to speak any more on the matter.

In 2018, both Ji Eun and her career are stronger than they’ve ever been before. “I keep having to tell myself that this is real, that my work is finally paying off,” she says. When asked what she would tell her past self, she says, “Feel sad. Feel down. It’s okay. But keep on working and it will pay off eventually.”

And, to everyone who has a dream: “Don’t give up. Never give up.”

SOYI
(view spoiler)

LOVE HER OR HATE HER, you know who SOYI is. Debuted at fourteen in 2009 as KHC Entertainment girl group queenB's maknae, Yi Soyi instantly became a fan favorite for her visuals and dancing skill. When queenB disbanded in 2013 because their leader and main vocalist had withdrawn from the group to return home to Hong Kong, Soyi picked herself up and rose from the ashes as a soloist — and never looked back.

Maybe it had always been there — after all, she had been KHC's It Girl, young and pure, but always something more hidden behind that innocent smile. Her solo debut under a new company and with a reinvented image was met with mixed reviews — some who praised her fiercely unapologetic confidence, and others who felt that a woman has no business presenting herself in such a provocative way. Regardless, sales don't lie, and Soyi has remained one of the most successful female idol soloists and a household name, whether it be as an inspiration or a guideline of what not to do. It's too bad she doesn't care what other people think — she's doing just fine. She doesn't care what your dad thinks, or what her own dad thinks, because Yi Soyi doesn't care too much about too many people at all.

L E EJ U N GH Y U N
IDOL/ACTRESS/ICON
THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO WILL ALWAYS SHINE. ★
Many say that the fate of GENESIS is a true shame. That they
are a group lost to poor management. To scandals. And while that may be true, in the
end, Lee Junghyun is a survivor. When she was a little girl, she had to learn how take
care of herself. When she was in high school, she worked two part-time jobs to help
her parents get by. When she first debuted as an idol, it was as part of an unsuccessful
girl group under a company that went under a year after debut. The other members?
One's a housewife, one appeared on Just Be Produced and was eliminated at rank 90,
and one is an adult film star. And Junghyun re-debuted under a Big 3 company as the
lead vocalist of one of the landmark girl groups of kpop. And now, at age twenty-five,
though some of the other group members may not have any work or public interest
anymore, Junghyun has a thriving career as an actress.

Of course, success also comes with scandal, and so what if she smokes cigarettes? It's
not like she's the only one around who does. It doesn't change the fact that she's a
damn good actress. Don't mind her. She's just minding her own business, counting her
money and running her pug's Instagram account. Does she have one of her own? No.
She's not stupid enough to risk slipping up and exposing a secret relationship to the
public via SNS like some people are.

CAN AMERICAN BORN KOREAN IDOL KATIEE SMASH RECORDS WITH NEW EP?

2/06/17 by Si Soon-Chun

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Relying on features with more popular artists and various variety shows, Nineteen year old American born Katherine Yun Eom (stage name; Kaitee) is mostly unknown to the public as a solo artist, recognized mostly by her small but growing fan-base in America and moderately medium sized Korean admirers. Since her debut soul album Audience with bubbly single Heartbeat (하트 비트) that managed to barely break top 50 in Korea's Top 100 Kaitee has been working hard in the studio to produce something to top it. She'll get there sooner or later for her company decided on releasing a bilingual comeback album. It's seriously risky, but it's the only shot she's got.

Billboard: You’ve mentioned that your new album will be bilingual...how does that work?

Katherine Yun Eom: Yes! I have mentioned that, it's a new concept that I actually came up with. Half the songs will be in English and the other in Korean. I felt as if I needed to show both my sides-- Korean and American. I feel like it represents my personality: sweet, simple yet charming. I want all my fans, international and local, to hear the product of all my hard work.

A video surfaced at a concert in Seoul of you running off stage, refusing to finish performing and it has seemed to put you in some hot water. Can you elaborate on that event?

[Laughs] Actually I felt extremely sick that day, so to avoid throwing up on my fans I decided to go back to the backstage bathroom. It wasn't a great concert, and I apologized for that multiple times already.

I know this has been debunked before...but rumor has it you bought plane tickets to move back to America to start your career over. Let's hear it from the source, Kaitee, is this true?

It was talked about...but it's not decided yet. So no.

Hyejin acted in a supporting role in Myth of the

alongside A-Prince's Jang Kisu as her love
interest, and was attacked by R-Princesses for a
bornback hug scene despite the two clarifying that
August 3, 1996they had no relationship except respect between
a sunbae and hoobae.

HYEJIN WAS THE only one in Iris trying to promote the group, or so they say. Since Iris'
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ debut in 2015, Im Hyejin has been one of the most active members of the group, acting in dramas, guesting on variety shows, and hosting a weekly segment of Hug The Radio. Since then, and with the aid of Iris' increasing popularity, Hyejin continues to pack her schedule with solo activities, now including multiple CF deals. Hyejin still receives praise for her humble "rookie mindset" as she continues to promote her group as though they had never made their breakthrough. Anyone, netizens say, could see how dedicated she is to her group.

Is it really for Iris, though? Of course Hyejin is dedicated to her group ― she's committed herself to the group while she's a part of it. She knows how to follow through on what she's started; the Iris members may not be her sisters as she says in interviews, but they are her friends, and she's not going to try to leave the group early to pursue a solo career when the company is already giving her plenty of individual activities, anyway. While Iris becomes increasingly more successful as a group, Hyejin is missing practices and group schedules to make her own name known: Im Hyejin, actress.

Seo Min-jung has always felt like second best. After being barely admitted to train at Global H Media it's always been an uphill battle. That is why she takes it upon herself to make sure no one questions her placement as the fiery, spunky redhead in Iris. The truth is no one really denies her talent-- everyone thinks of her as the hyper funny comic relief of the group but in her warped reality everything she does is wrong.

JEON SE YOUNG
twenty-five + singer songwriter

Hardheaded and strong-willed, "Nation's Sweetheart" Jeon Se Young makes a perfect starving artist, which was what she was for most of her career from her debut at the young age of 16 until her 4th studio album. After that launched, the spotlight's harsh light suddenly focused on her and now more then ever she was held to a certain standard-- a standard she never felt like she could live up to. The only breath of fresh air came in the shape of 30 year old Ahn Seongho. Eloping in secret, she believed that he was her escape. But now more then ever...maybe she's not so sure.

SECRET + SCANDAL

J E O N GS IY E O N
blossom && leader && lead vocalist

Now twenty-eight and the leader of Blossom for eight years, Jeong Siyeon can't really be considered a rookie. From debut, she's had the perfect appearance of the public's favorite good girl, staying out of trouble and doing philanthropy on the side of her group and solo activities. She's worked hard to stay in public favor and to maintain relevance both as a member of Blossom and as an actress, and for the most part, she's succeeded. Her career is by no means a shabby one, and Siyeon has learned how to navigate through the world of entertainment while keeping (most) people happy.

Earlier in her career as a variety personality, people would call Siyeon over-the-top, a try-hard ― true or not, her efforts have not gone to waste, and she remains one of the more popular members of Blossom. It's not always an easy balancing act between group and solo activities: Siyeon loves Blossom. She's committed to Blossom. As long as Siyeon is a member of Blossom, she'll work wholeheartedly to do well in it. But she's also older now, and so are the others, and they're not little girls anymore, they're grown women who can all take care of themselves. She refuses to let anyone make her feel bad for taking care of herself, too. She learned the importance the hard way, and, well ― maybe part of her still feels twenty years old, pressured and anxious, wishing that someone would help her find her way.

KIM AEJUNG × lead vocalist for blossom
twenty-six & idol & (view spoiler)

DESPITE HOW HARD Aejung tries to be likable, she ultimately fails. And it's nothing against her physical attributes. Her vocals are lovely, her body is flawless, and she can dance pretty well. But being an idol is more than just what Aejung can bring to the table in terms of attractiveness. See, the thing is is that talking to people is hard. With a severe social anxiety disorder preventing her from connecting with fans and interviewers alike, Aejung seems to fall short a lot. It certainly doesn't help that she can't seem to just tell the public that. In more than one way, Aejung is stuck. Blossom doesn't seem to be changing up their concept any time soon and neither, it seems, will Aejung (even if she really wants to).

But don't get Aejung wrong. She loves being an idol and she loves the opportunities she's been given with Blossom. It's just time for a change to occur ━ one that can hopefully start from within.

A H NB O R A ⟶ twenty-four ⦁ solo artist ⦁ choreographer

The first thing people notice about Bora is her attitude, that edgy demeanor that reads in every line of her body and every flicker of her gaze. She's a powerhouse in her own right, fueled by ambition and the selfish desire to prove to all those that she couldn't that she, in fact, did. Diligent and fierce, she constantly works to better herself and her status ━ and she has no qualms with stepping on a few fingers and toes to get to the top. There is a reason why Bora doesn't ever seem to have many friends, after all. But really, who gives a damn if she's shady when she can make up for up with a sexy smile and an even sexier single?

SCANDAL┃Bora has recently been under fire for her "burn blog," where she routinely attacks idols. She can't seem to dispel the rumors entirely even after months of her trying to rid speculation.

SECRET┃When bora was sixteen, she had an affair with her former vocal coach ━ a twenty-two year old woman. It lasted for two years.

skeppintrst I really don't understand why yikyung waited until now to start being a soloist. Shouldn't this be something she does when she's a teenager and not 22??? idk, i'll still give it a listen 👍
stanstan I'm so ready for this album to drop! Yikyung is my fave model and i know she's gonna be great here
casualobserver yeah, MODEL not SINGER. this is just going to be a huge flop and let's be honest, super rushed. she's probably just doing it to cover up the fact that she wasn't picked for fashion week even tho she told everyone she was a shoe in.

N A Mfemale, twenty-four,
M I Y O U N Gbravo manager;
a lifelong b.d. group fan and
(shh!) wizard since jinx's debut

WHEN SHE GRADUATED high school, Nam Miyoung's
father told her that she was more likely to meet her idols than find a job with the history degree she wanted to pursue. As it turns out, he wasn't wrong, because after a fruitless job search following graduation, Miyeon applied, on a whim, for a manager position with One Punch Entertainment ― and was hired.

It's not exactly the best job in the world ― the pay could really be better for the amount that she knows the boys get paid, she's essentially a glorified babysitter for eight grown men who can't be assed to keep their own schedules organized, and she gets comments on her SNS like, you hoe, stay away from my oppas. (Yeah, no. Miyoung's seen how they live in their dorm, and really, she thinks sometimes they're more farm animal than human. It's not cute.) But the job could be worse ― the benefits are decent, and, well, it's not like she actually has to do that much. Besides, Miyoung's pretty sure they learned after their first lecture not to cross her. Really, Miyoung's job is just to make sure that eight boys get where they need to be on time. How hard could it be?

ALL THAT JINA has ever wanted is to be an idol. The fans, the spotlight, the boys ━ it's kind of a dream come true. But what Jina wasn't expecting is how many people would turn against her, against Bliss. The pressure, the anxiety, the fear of what could happen if they fall, if Jina falls. Really, she just doesn't get it. So what if Bliss has made it big? You'd think that Adonis fans would be happy to celebrate a new group that matched Adonis ━ the continuation of a legacy. Instead, Jina does her best to stay away from the blogs and magazines and the talk shows that do their best to stoke the fire of the fanwars. She isn't bothered by the fact that her choice gets her dubbed as Bliss most oblivious member. She's just trying to stay above the scandal, the insecurity, the uncertainty.

Luckily for Jina, she's cute. Most fans are willing to look over her kind of clueless nature because, well, she's charming. With boundless energy and all of her dedication to making Bliss the best, Jina holds a large fan base ━ and when you have fans, you have people rooting for you. Really though, Jina knows exactly what gets said about her, about Bliss, about her friends. She can try all she wants to separate herself from the drama but at the end of the day, it's kind of all that remains. Who cares if Jina is a nice girl who just wants to succeed? Who cares that she's the girl who puts hours upon hours in the studio to make sure she's doing her best for Bliss? Certainly not the media, not with the drama that surrounds her. Bliss is moving up the ladder fast and all that means is heat for Adonis. Bliss is moving up fast and the fall is gonna hurt like hell if when it comes.
