What else are you reading?
I'm reading The Raven Boys and How to Stop Time (I've got to say that the second one is to be recommended)
A Borrowing of Bones is great. It's romantic suspense though at this stage not all that much in the way of romance. If you like dogs, you'll enjoy this one.
I'm currently reading The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker. So far I'm finding it pretty slow and not as good as Madeline Miller's mythology books. Anyone reading this one or familiar with Madeline Miller at all?
I’ve finished with our book of the month the Murder on the orient express and started Patricia Briggs’ series Mercy Thompson
I started my horror/creepy books early this year (its almost October haha) and I'm listening to the audiobook of Meg (it's a riot! Fun, scary shark book) and reading The King of Plagues, a series I highly recommend if you like horror/thriller.
I’m on full Halloween mode. So far I’ve read the exorcist. The haunting of hill house (watching the series now in Netflix) Bird Box and I’m now with Breathe. A ghost story by Cliff McNish. Next title will be a head full of ghost 😁

I'm doing the 24 hour readathon today and so far I finished the biting cold and am halfway through Unwind. I'll be moving onto spooky books after that.
It’s very different from the book. I don’t know if you have read it so the House is there just as described in the book, the Dudley’s but this is not the story of an experiment rather a family who lived there as they were restoring it to sell it and the consequences. I got hooked right away. I think I’ll be finishing it tomorrow I only have 2 episodes left.
Oh my, I had no idea there was a Haunting of Hill House series! Something else to add to my need to watch list.I'm reading Paradise Valley
, Night of the Crabs
, A Pelican at Blandings
, and Blue Remembered Earth

I'm sure Americans treated Native Americans just as badly, ..."Sorry just saw your question. Above the text box there is an add book/author link. When you search and find a book just go to the bottom of the box and change it from link to cover then hit add :)
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Eine kurze Chronik des allmählichen Verschwindens, A Gothic Soul and Märchen von Wölfen are the books I'm trying to finish in February still. All of them are quite good reads.
I'm working on
. It's an older one. Have any of you read it? It's an interesting read for sure, but I'm a little over halfway in and am not really understanding what makes this fall under the horror genre.

Oh man, I read Flowers in the Attic in middle school. My mom had a bunch of V.C Andrews books in her closet and I'd already cleared out all the other books in the house. Even reading it at that age it wasn't really horror so much as menacing maybe? Like, there's a lot of hidden family history and implied things that are pretty messed up, but nothing straightforward. I guess the idea of locking your children in an attic for years is pretty awful. I would call this one more creepy then horror.
It makes me wonder if Carrie didn't have the prom scene at the end with all the fire and death, would it still be a horror novel? I never read it, just watched the movie to be fair.
I read the flowers in the attic series as a teenager, and I’m not sure that I remember viewing any of it as horror. I think I just read it because it was sold as a sex book and at around 12 or 13 I wanted it to read all of the sex books, I read the beauty series and the story of O at around the same time. I really had no parental supervision. Right now, I am reading the fourth book in the iron seas series by Miljean Brook, which I am quite enjoying. For anyone who’d like to read this series I’ll warn you that the first book is awful. It gets better. Also, 2666 which I really want to like and I am really hating. I’ll finish it because I am pathologically in capable of not finishing a book but I’ll probably do my best to erase it from my memory very shortly afterwards.
I'm in a book slump and can't see to get out of it. I'm going to try and pick up "How Not to Die Alone" by Richard Roper It's supposed to be a dark comedy so I'm hoping it is what I need to get back into reading.
I just finished The Silent Patient. If you love psychological thrillers this is for you. It was a really good book. If you haven't read it I suggest you add it to your tbr.
Currently I am reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I cannot put it down. It’s so good and just keeps me drawn in the whole time I’m reading.
It seems that the silent patient is quite popular. I’m also reading it. On the last part...not sure yet to what I’m jumping next.
