Anna Hi everyone! I'm Anna, 15(almost 16 :D)and I love reading just like the rest of you! I like reading different genres, like Historical Fiction, Fantasy, most things. I can be picky with what I read but I still like reading new things so long as they are clean(no sex or swearing) and free of magic. I joined this group because it sounded fun with the book-a-months and buddy groups for reading! I've never buddy read before but sounds interesting!
Also, I really like writing and am trying to work on a new one(haven't published anything yet). :D

April Bair (aprilbair) | 1 comments Hello All!
This thread looks dormant but I'm new so "hi ya'll".
Some of the best books I've read were ones I walked right past in the store and then someone shoved it into my reading list later. I use 3/4 star reviews more that 5 star because seeing what people don't like about a book gives me a sense of who the reviewer is more generic "omg so awesome" or "groundbreaking classic for our times". I read most genres although I'm still looking for a romance that scratched my reading itch. Favorite books are Frog & Toad, Ender's Game, The Velveteen Rabbit, All Quiet of the Western Front and most recently Relic (Alan Dean Foster). I also love all things by Terry Brooks and enjoy both Dale and Dan Brown. As for geographic location- currently US after Germany after Japan with no idea where I'll live next. Most recent travel were Phoenix Arizona and Dublin Ireland but I'll be close to home traveling through books for a while recouping the bank account.

Stacie Hi, I'm Stacie! I'm actually in another book club with Nikki and she invited me here. I'm not usually super active on Goodreads (other than shelving/reviews) so it took me awhile to notice (duuuh). All the books you guys are reading look AHHHmazing. I read a pretty broad array of books but my faves are usually anything with faeries and urban fantasy. To be honest though I'm up for anything! Thanks for inviting me again, Nikki, and I'm sorry it took me so long to post!

Oookay ESCAPE ROOM GAME MASTER? That's amazing!!! Also, I love games too! My husband and I are super hermits so we barely ever have enough people to play, but I'm super into Munchkin and we love Flux as far as card games go.

Welcome to the group Anna! And buddy reads are a lot of fun. If you ever want to do one just post in our looking for buddy reads post and say what you want to read :)

Thanks for joiing! If you ever want to chime in on previous books of the month they always stay open. I like having the discussions ongoing. What are some of your favorite books with faeries? Flux and munchkin are super fun!

Stacie, we are big fans of munchkin as well. Have you ever played Super Fight?

Joyce (joycetyo) | 1 comments Hi...my name is Joyce. I am considered a senior citizen , not by me, but by others. I am living currently in New Mexico although my husband and I were full time RV'rs and were fortunate to see most of the U.S.
I have been reading for over 50 years and still love a good, engrossing book. I take at least an hour a day to read my latest. Right now I am reading Elevation by Stephen King, one of my favorite authors. I love a good mystery, historical fiction, and the occasional touching book. Looking forward to 2019

R.D. Murray | 3 comments My Name Is R. D. Murray

This is very hard to write and a little watered down. I don't want to say everything that happened to me, but when I was in the 3rd grade I was bullied so badly I wanted to kill myself at times.. I think it happened because I was shy, quiet and awkward. I was thrown in the boy’s bathroom by these 3 particular kids who would punch and kick me as hard as they could. I could barely walk as everyday they would abuse me over, and over again. The other kids in school would just laugh at me and no one helped. In fact, those same kids who watched and knew about my abuse would just join in, tease me, and they even threw food at me during lunch. My mom came to school so much to fight for me, but it didn’t help. I had just about given up living in this world. Somehow God saved me and I found writing. It was an outlet to take me away from the pain I was going through in this world. I wanted to create different characters, and a different world just to escape. Writing really saved my life. Now at 42 I just released my first novel called My Dead Blue Caterpillar. I have to say I still am a bit shy so this is hard for me, but I am starting a program to be a spokesperson and sort of a one on one help for kids that are being bullied or have went through the affects of being bullied. I am here because I love writing and reading and hope to meet new people.....

Thank you for sharing your story, as a kid who was bullied and became suicidal at a young age as a result, I know these things can be hard to talk about. I'm so happy to hear writing gave you an outlet, and I think it's beautiful that you are wanting to start a program.

R.S. Merritt | 3 comments Hello All - Merry Christmas Eve! I'm an avid reader and writer. Been reading like a maniac since I was a kid. Grew up on an island on the edge of 200 foot bluffs so not a lot to do really. Worked out great though! I enjoy Post Apocalyptic and Fantasy type novels the most. Science Fiction is also a genre I like to get lost in. I look forward to seeing your random recommendations and comments pop up!

Edit: Yup I just searched for all the books in all the online big bookstores in my country and I can't find any of them. Yayy :(

Hello all, I'm Glenda, 48, and live in the foothills of the southern Cascades in western Washington (closest small town of Morton is 10+ miles away). I've been a stay-at-home mom to my autistic son for the past 11 years. When it comes to books, I read pretty much everything but I am partial to horror, sci-fi/fantasy, and mysteries. Looking forward to monthly reads and discussions!

D Dyer | 66 comments Hello everyone. I’m D. I am 29 and I live in Florida with One of my primary partners and her parents and our slowly expanding collection of animals. We just moved. There are lots of strays. I am sneaking at least two more cats in, I’m just saying. I read all kinds of books but particularly a lot of sci-fi fantasy horror queerer novels and cookbooks. When I am not reading, I am usually working, as a sex educator and PSO (which means I spend an in ordinate amount of time having strange conversations over the Internet) caring for the animals, gardening, cooking, crafting, and as much as I can manage planning trips to Syfy conventions. I am also a person of color and a person with both visible and invisible disabilities, if that sort of thing is important and a polyamorous person and a pagan. So, you know, all the things. Anyway, I look forward to getting to talk with and to get to know all of you. Don’t hesitate to say hi.

Your job sounds really interesting! Reminds me of when my friends and I ran a BDSM meetup group for a while and doing teaching demos. Which sci-fi conventions are you planning to go to?

D Dyer | 66 comments I’ve done a few kink demos as part of lessons. But this year we are doing Norwescon outer limits and balticon for sure. We’ll probably do a few others in the Florida and Georgia area, flpolycon next couple of weeks definitely because it’s an easy day trip. I did Dragon con almost every year for a decade but haven’t in the last few years. There’s a resort takeover in Mexico that my girl and I would like to do next year but that’s not a sci-fi thing. They do have costumes though and since I take my costumes seriously I have to start making space allotments now.

Isabelle Ray Hello!
My name is Isabelle. I joined a few months ago, but have been unable to participate lately due to a rigorous AP English class. However, now the class is just about finished, so I anticipate to hopedully join in. I am a junior in high school; I live in Germany as a military child. Therefore, I am similar to Elena and am not able to find many of the books in English. I can find them in online stores from America, but by the time that I receive them, it is too late. I hope to branch out through this group and meet many people and read more diversely!

I read most genres, with a preference for dystopian, sci-fi, fantasy and myth/history retellings. I write a little as well. I'm looking for recommendations, and to expand the topics, authors and genres I am reading.
