Did you enjoy it, Sandra? It has mixed reviews, but the premise is intriguing. I am looking forward to reading it next month!

I liked it, and rated it 3 stars. I think the MC is a different from the characters you usually find in a wwii novel. I will taking a look at your comments when Liz and you read it.

Okay, now I am even more intrigued. It would be great to hear more of your thoughts once we begin reading it.

Hopefully, someone will join in the next couple of days and I can pair you together. If not, we'll sneak you into one of the other groups.

I would love to join you. The book description sounds pretty interesting. I may need to brush up on the XX century Chinese history though.

message 65: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments @ Paakhi, I'm happy to be your twin for a cozy mystery. I'm twin to Cherie for bio/memoir. But have lots of time this month for reading.

It does look like an interesting book. Will be an pretty interesting discussion.

Paakhi Srivastava (pankh) | 199 comments @TJ thanks buddy. Would love to read with you! Will be sending you a message shortly to finalize the book.

message 68: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Jan 31, 2018 07:31AM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments Hang on, Paakhi and TJ. That may be a solution. But, I need Jane's response first.

Jane, you haven't been assigned a twin. If you'd like to do the challenge, you need to be assigned a twin. Currently, Paakhi is twinless and wants to read cozy mystery. If you would like to read cozy mystery, I will twin the two of you. That way, Tejas Janet doesn't need to read two books.

message 69: by Jane (new)

Jane Hello, I would like to read the book that Beth and Dominique are reading. It is called Do Not Say We Have Nothing. It is Historical Fiction. Would you please assign me to be their triplet?

Sorry, but that's not the way the challenge works. You chose your genre, and then you're assigned to a twin. You and your twin decide what book you want to read.

I won't assign a triplet if there are people without twins. Paakhi is without a twin. Maybe the two of you could negotiate on genre.

Paakhi Srivastava (pankh) | 199 comments @Janet waiting for your orders Madame

message 72: by Jane (new)

Jane I would like to explore historical fiction. If I understand my options correctly - 1) either find another twin / another book and participate in the twin challenge, or 2) read the book other twins selected / participate in their discussion thread and don't get the credit in the challenge. Is this correct?

Your options are limited. Sorry. You were to state the genre you wanted to read. Then your twin would be assigned to you.

Paakhi wrote: "@Janet waiting for your orders Madame"

Are you willing to switch to Historical Fiction? If so, you and Jane will be twins reading Historical Fiction.

I am extremely busy today, and won't be back to my computer until later this evening, so I apologize on the delay in resolving this.

(I was going to sign this like I do my emails. I just finished reviewing and responding to 50 emails so my mind is in an endless loop.)

message 74: by Paakhi (new)

Paakhi Srivastava (pankh) | 199 comments @Janice okay..I will read a historical fiction with Jane 😊

message 75: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Hi there, unfortunately no response from Karen, my twin :(

message 76: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments Jane and Paakhi are officially twins reading Historical Fiction. You can now decide together which book you'll read. You can decide by PM messages, or set up a thread.

message 77: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments Suzanne wrote: "Hi there, unfortunately no response from Karen, my twin :("

Have you PM'd her? I will send her a message as well.

message 78: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Can’t find the ability to quote in a mobile browser! But yup, pmed her

message 79: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments I have as well, Suzanne. Hopefully she'll respond soon. Keep me posted.

message 80: by Jane (new)

Jane Woo-hoo, I have a twin now!!! Paakhi, let me know if you have a book in mind.

Beth and Dominique, I checked out a book you are reading out of the library. I am happy to contribute to your discussion as well. The book seems to be complex and interesting to discuss.

I started a few pages this morning in the bus and it`s pretty interesting so far.

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments Has everyone got a twin now? Has everyone heard from their twin? I know Suzanne is waiting to hear from Karen. Anyone else?

I hope you all enjoy your books and have a great discussion with your twin.

I'm close to finishing my current book, so I will probably download ours tonight and start it tomorrow or on the weekend!

message 84: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I missed this challenge sign up. :(
Can I still join? In case there is someone left without a twin?

message 85: by Paakhi (new)

What genre do you prefer, Laura?

We can likely find you a twin. Suzanne's twin hasn't reported in, and if she is a no show by Monday, we can likely pair you with Suzanne. You may have to agree on a genre.

If not, perhaps one of our speed readers would be willing to read a second book.

message 87: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Any genre is fine Janice. I don't mind.

message 88: by Suzanne (last edited Feb 04, 2018 12:22AM) (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Hi there, still no word from Karen unfortunately. I have a feeling Laura and I could find a book we are both keen to read rather easily!

message 89: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I'd like that Suzanne. :)

message 90: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments Okay, Laura and Suzanne, you are twins. Pick a genre and go from there.

Karen, if you find your way back, you will need a twin so leave a message.

message 91: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Laura and I are planning to read Daughter of the Empire, planning to create a thread to discuss. This is my first ever buddy read so I am really looking forward to it! I have never had to talk about my thoughts on a book before in depth

message 92: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments Enjoy! I'm glad we got you all sorted. :)

message 93: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments We're in the final week of the challenge. February is always such a crazy month for me because it's so short and I have so many deadlines to meet. I feel like it's already over, so it surprises me that we still have 6 days to go.

A couple of things - discussion is a conversation. Some people don't seem to grasp that idea. It's not just a one post comment about your impression of the book, unless that post uses up all the allotted characters, in which case you would have written an essay. Make sure you're having a conversation with your twin. About the book.

It also appears like some twins have done a disappearing act. if your twin has not upheld his/her part of the bargain, do not fret. Keep having a conversation even if it's one sided. You will get a badge if you have read the book, and discussed it. Your badge is not contingent on your twin's participation.

Once you have finished your book, go ahead and report it in the reporting thread. You don't need to report simultaneously.

Hi friends, I'm not really participating in this challenge but I started reading this book after finishing Alice and Sarah pointed out you were reading it as well. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I've only just started and I'm not really sure how I feel about the book so far.

Thank you, that would have been my next question lol.

message 97: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59978 comments If you have finished reading and discussing with your twin, head over to the reporting thread. Each person must report his/her own comments in order to earn a badge. There are quite a few sets where one twin has reported, but the other hasn't.
