Forrest Sanders | 3 comments Looking for the name of a book I read a few years back for my wife and for the life of me I can't remember the name. I recall the story started by following a man and woman who elope and have a child, but the woman doesn't want children and is a bad mother. As I recall they have 2 more daughters the younger one having a leg issue.

The mother hating her life suffocates herself in the oven I believe. I remember the girls went to a religious school. One of the girls was much more rebellious and ends up working at a bar/brothel and giving hand jobs to men out back while wearing a white glove. As if to protect herself or something.

The rebellious daughter constantly pokes fun and the youngest daughter about a baby who died and is buried in the backyard which I believe has something to do with the father. Father as I recall worked in a mine, but previously had quite a bit of money.

Hopefully this is enough info. I remember really enjoying the book and I was hoping to have my wife read it as well, but I can't remember the name!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-Forrest

Where and when is it set? Author female or male? Remember the cover?

Forrest Sanders | 3 comments I want to say it was set during Victorian times. I don't recall their being any sort of higher technology. Where I believe it was in Europe originally and then the family moves to a new area I believe still in Europe.

Sadly I can't recall the author, nor the cover as I had the book in a digital format. I can't seem to find the file anywhere.

Fall on Your Knees I just suggested this title in another query. I was wrong but it's funny how a book pops up on multiple post.

Glad you figured it out, it's so good.
