Chris Riemer | 3 comments I read this book around 1990-1995 and would love to read it again. The plot involved students at a space station school. *Spoilers ahead... The best student's (maybe named McLeod) spaceship is sabotaged by his rival causing him severe injuries. He is sent home traveling near light speed. After rehabilitation, he returns to the school pretending to be a student to take his revenge. Because of his near light speed travel, he has not aged, but his rival is now about 30 years older and the school administrator. Somehow he is discovered and they battle in a zero gravity glass maze. His rival is killed by a broken sheet of glass. Thanks for any suggestions!

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Do you remember the cover?
Part of a series?
Did the boy have any family, friends, pets, teachers, etc?

Chris Riemer | 3 comments Can't remember the cover and don't think it was part of a series. The boy had a teacher that suspected he was too advanced for a freshman. (Due to his time spent at near light speed travel he was much older than he appeared.) He also meets a girl who eventually learns the truth of who he is and they end up together at the end. Can't remember anything about his family or pets.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments There's one like this, but dude was permanently injured by his rival, sent home at near lightspeed so he didn't age, and it would've taken him 30 years(? or long, long time) to get back. However he shows up much sooner (dun, dun, dun - (view spoiler)), and enters school under an alias - because, hey, not injured either! Passes entry tests, etc (because he's done them before). He's looking for dirt on his rival. Who is suspicious of him, but *knows* that MC can't be the guy he injured, because he's got another 15 years before MC could come back to get him, due to lightspeed delays.

I don't recall the glass maze, nor the death.

What was going on in this book was rival was up to no good with the unaligned school (political factions), (view spoiler)
