Clickety clack goes the little black train down the long steel track, while animals and boys and girls take heed of its warning. Words and illustrations blend into a delicate symphony for ages 3-6.
The Catholic Library World, 1955
The busy little train comes down the track, "Clickely, clack, clickety, clack." warning everyone, even a bumblebee, to stand back "till the train is gone, little black train on the long, steel track."
Instructor, 1956
Caroline, are you still looking for this or did you find it? (Whistle for the Train seems likely.)

The little black train goes down the track warning a kitten, a dog, a rabbit, a car, a mouse, a bee, and a group of children to stay back.

All I remember is sentences from the book: "Clickety clack, clickety clack goes the little black train on the long steel track" and something about a cow trying to cross and "stay back, stay back!" I remember the cover being in black and white, posaibly greys, and the illistration style was similar to Ezra Jack Keaton (look up "Indian Two Feet and His Horse") and/or Virginia Lee Burton if my memory is any good. All the pictures were in black and white. My mind wants to say that there were reds as well, but I think I'm thinking of another bookin regards to that color. It's definitely what I would consider to be vintage. I would super appreciate any assistance in tracking down this book! It would mean a lot to me.
