there is already some mechanics for guns in the DM guide. Are you talking about trying to snipe someone?

For example there is this mechanic:
Burst Fire.
A weapon that has the burst fire property
can make a normal single-target attack, or it can spray a
10-foot-cube area within normal range with shots. Each
creature in the area must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity
saving throw or take the weapon's normal damage. This
action uses ten pieces of ammunition.

As guns are ranged weapons, dexterity would be the ability to use with them. At least according to the D&D manuals.
I thought the burst fire effect was small explosions...but I could be wrong. And yeah, I realize that ranged weapons take dexterity in dnd, but throwing a knife, hurling a javelin, or tossing a net are way different from pulling a trigger. I’m down for whatever, and won’t be offended if you don’t take my suggestions. Your the DM, do as you see fit.

According to me, pulling a trigger would be more like using a crossbow, and because the crossbow is used with dexterity, I compare both of them. I don't believe you need intelligence to pull a trigger.

Fair enough. I feel like aiming is pretty much a long distance investigation, but I guess you need to hold the gun still and whatnot. Dexterity is fine with me.

Alright. Sorry, I’m still at work so I hadn’t noticed. Are we good to use the point system for our character creation?
