Could you create your character and then I could go from there?
Sorry for such a delay with classes and working out I had a busy day. Could you lead the way and I can brainstorm off of you?

Twenty-Five years earlier creatures began to walk the earth - terrifying creatures fueled with the hunger for flesh (yeah, yeah, "zombies") and no one had any idea how to end this r how this began. All they knew was whatever this was spread through the air as well as physical contact. Years past and the world shut down, colonies began, but each colony thought they were the only colony alive. Scientists created implants that filtered the air internally, expelling the virus from turning them into whatever these creatures were. Muse A and Muse B were best friends growing up, Muse B wanted Muse A, but Muse A was ultimately oblivious to this and not that it mattered. Their colony lived by strict rules and were ruled by a dark monarchy who determined who would end up together, and were very strict and harsh with punishment. The best friends had never seen one of these creatures before, but they heard them, and heard stories of them. Time passes and the colony becomes overrun by these creatures, the best friends run with people from the colony, but surviving is crucial but seemingly impossible. Eventually, they meet people outside of their little colony, but these people don't have implants, they're bitten and hurt, but they live amongst the creatures. But aren't one of them?
