Yay, Mel! You are here! I am enjoying it too. I can't picture Kahlen any other way than like in the show😀. I loved her there! Richard though is quite different...

Patrick, we all listen to audiobooks when we have them.. I think it is one of the reasons we cover so much, because many of us listen to the books while driving, which I do about 100 miles a day, at least 😊... I never even thought about YouTube tthough, they might have it on there too...

Listening generally means audiobooks... either thru Audible.com or Overdrive.com or Hoopladigital.com

Thank you Choko! Didnt know if I needed to buy it or not. I found Joe Abercrombie's books on youtube and other new books. I was surprised!

I love Scarlet and I am a bit afraid of Kahlan right now... Just a chapter left to go... I have been really into this story... It is linear, but darn it, all the chapters with Denna in them just killed me!!! Killed me!
I have the first four books on Audible as I got them cheap on kindle and then they were cheap on Audible when I bought them on kindle =)
The segments with Denna and Scarlet were some of the best of the book for me... the Denna parts read like a completely different book, almost...

They were powerful and disturbing and very good!!! It was just painful to read...
Just finished... Well, I really enjoyed it and I hope you guys are up to continuing with the series:):):) Have fun reading and I will keep an eye on the posts, so no one feels lonesome:):):)

You guys have left me in the dust! Most of you are finished and I've not even managed to get started yet. I might just bow out of this read as I can see you guys being done with the whole series by the time I'm finishing with WFR! I need to be careful with SoT as my next run at the series will be my last one. Did any of you guys listen to the audio? I have to admit I thought the narration for this series was sub-standard.
I thought the audio was fine. Not the greatest, but it was okay for me. I'm trying to collect them used in hardback. I hope they all come in decent enough condition 👀 And I'm trying to get the all of The Wheel Of Time in Hardback too. I'm trying to get them new. I have 2 more left to get on my Amazon wishlist. I don't remember ordering the others but I must have ordered from BookOutlet or something. My poor brain!! I'm trying to save my eyes from the fat little mass market editions. But they are my fav 😫 Getting some things on kindle too.

They are so cute and I have all the WoT and Malazan like that too:) And Tiger and Del, I love those 80's series:)
Yeah, I'm getting the Malazan in bigger paperback but they aren't much bigger than my little ones. I have a few left to get on kindle and Audible of those when I can. I love the fat little old schools though 😊
Patrick wrote: "I stopped reading too lol."Because you got left in the dust like me or because the story was not working for you?
Choko wrote: "I actually read this, since I own the whole series in paperback... Have no idea about the audio..."It is one of those audio series that gets lumbered with multiple audio narration changes from book to book and to make matters worse all of the narrators are not particularly good. They are well spoken enough just no talent for voice action. It is all a bit monotonous!
Pity as the first two SoT audios were the first two audio books I bought when I joined Audible at the end of 2007!
Lol both but mostly cuz I didn’t like it. I got about a quarter way and I had to stop. It doesn’t help reading it with the Way of Kings which has superb writing and WFR doesn’t. I could have plodded through if it was shorter but since it was 800+ pages um no lol. I have other books waiting that are better.

I always avoided buying hardbacks as I hate how heavy the things are especially for big fat fantasy books. Though I take your point that a lot of mass market paperbacks are just too tiny. Thankfully mass market never really took off in the UK and our paperbacks are a bit better sized.
I get some of my fav books in UK editions too. I'm a hoarder!! It's hard going back and getting old stuff in the larger paperbacks because they will be missing a few. Like the Malazan I'm collecting in the larger paperback don't fit. What??? I have them out of order on my shelf because they are different sizes. I have no idea but whatever. Now I have them partially in large paperback and kindle and Audible. Just a few more to have those complete. I have all of the mass markets in the Malazan though. It's just all to much. In the Wheel Of Time and Terry Goodkind I found all of Terry's at decent used prices on Thrift Books in HB so I went with those. And I found a bunch of HB of Wheel Of Time on BookOutlet so I started getting those there.
It's all too crazy. Lol. I just hope they all come in decent condition.
You're lucky you don't have to worry about 9 million sized books!!! Lol
More like just wondering more about this world and wanting to keep reading to find out more. Unfortunately been a bit busy so haven't had time. Hoping later today and tomorrow I can make a dent in the book.
I read this when it first came out in HC. I have the first 5 or 6 in HC, in a box somewhere in the basement. I am two book short of having all of the WOT in HC. Memory of Light is currently remaindered out at my local Meijer Thrifty Acres for a hair under 6 dollars. Then I just need to get the immediately prior book and I will have series in full in HC and Ebook. I will be getting a Kindle to go with my Nook by weeks end. Then I will be adding more SOT ebooks, they tend to be on sale at times on Kindle and not on Nook.
I was wondering, are any of you guys planning to continue with the series, or should I just do it by myself? I rather read them with company:) Once a moth that is...
I am planning to Choko. I am still stuck at the beginning at chapter 5 now because I wanted to finish Blood Song and Warbreaker. As it is I'm far behind with this one so one more day delay wouldn't count right! :) I'll finish it by the 1st though when the next Kushiel is starting with Bill and I'd like to make sure I arrange the next BR in such a way that it doesn't overlap with so many others. I have all the other books in this series and was planning to read 1 a month anyway to finish it this year. I'd love to read them with you.

I am sticking to it for sure. Can we please set it for around 25th-26th every month. That would be great for me.
Laura wrote: "I am sticking to it for sure. Can we please set it for around 25th-26th every month. That would be great for me."I am very cool with that. 26th sounds like a good number:)
Finished chapter 11 and I have to admit the writing seems a bit clumsy at times. The story hovewer is very engaging and as this is a first book, I'm willing to disregard the writing style for now.
Zedd is cool. I loved the "made them think they were without" scene. So that's man's most prized posession?! Who would have thought?! 🤣🤣

Hahahahahaha! I loved that scene too! And yes, the prose is not very good, but as you said, it is an interesting story and hooks you... I know I want to find out everything happening in the whole world as we go along:):):)
Choko wrote: "Ch. 29... I just met Rachel and Princess Violet... Am I a terrible person to want something bad to happen to the princess and her mother?"In that case we both are!
That chapter sort of reminded me of the movie "Alice in Wonderland" with the Mad Hatter and the ugly little queen shouting "Off with his head!!!" at almost any occasion.
I totally agree with you Iain on the comments regarding Chapters 19-21 as well as the problem solving. :DA small thing is bothering me though regarding the anger part. (view spoiler)
Did anyone understand what that particular type of anger is supposed to mean? Because to me it doesn't make sense.
Regarding the mud people. I also liked that part. Khalan totally deserved it!! Though I have to admit (view spoiler)

Haha, I can totally see that!!! I hated them too!!!

I thought of it the way you did, so I have no idea... Maybe the fact that when she is angry she becomes impulsive and reckless??? Don;t see it in this case at all...
Laura wrote: "Regarding the mud people. I also liked that part. Khalan totally deserved it!! Though I have to admit for one who really loves Richard so very much she was pretty quick to forget she may ice him..."
It is hilarious how jealous she gets!!! But I hope she stops thinking with her hormones and starts thinking more with her head:):):)
