It is weird because Miranda James is a non de plume for a man and those are really great books. But this....meh.

A friend and I bought them together because COFFEE! and now she is getting rid of her copy!! LOL We who have read it have taken one for the team!
Another male cozy author is Jeff Cohen, aka E. J. Copperman.I was excited about Death by Coffee because I always try to support male cozy authors since there are so few of them. However, I found this book lacking as well. It's been a few years, so I don't remember details. It must have its fans since the series is now up to six books.

It really surprises me because I just couldn't see trying to work through 5 more books after struggling through the first one! And I am glad to know that it wasn't just me.
I like E.J. Copperman! I didn't know that was a male author! Glad to be supporting another one!

I love the Maisie Dobbs books--all very precisely thought out. I enjoy the historical setting and the research that goes into each one.
I am annoyed by the audiobook - the first narrator was so delightful and I loved her. Then there was a new one for this book and it took me quite some time to settle in with her. AND there is another new one for the next one. Sigh.

I could see how you could get attached to a narrator, and then get one that you didn't like--I hadn't thought about that before!

I looked up the third narrator for this series and I have listened to her before and she is good. If she stays with the series, I will be happy.

Yes. I can take a bit of nosiness because I get that is how they "help" solve the mystery, but this truly crosses the line. It was a real disappointment.
