I finished up White Teeth by Zadie Smith last week, and am going to count it towards this category! It was my first Zadie Smith book and I really loved it.

Lauren (hiddentwilight) | 4 comments I highly recommend anything by N.K. Jemisin for this category. Her writing is some of the best I’ve come across in years. I literally love every book of hers I’ve read, but the Fifth Season trilogy is a great place to start.

Ken Liu has some phenomenal short stories (The title story from his short story anthology, “The Paper Menagerie” made me cry), and if you’re into long form fiction has Chinese inspired epic series called The Grace of Kings

you could also read I am Malala for the memoir one! i've also been meaning to read that one!

no rule about fiction or non-fiction unless specified! that's meant to give people flexibility to read within genres they really like or want to read more of, so Malala would be an awesome choice
