John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments My edition of 0-393-31016-7 was "first published as a Norton paperback 1993" according to the copyright page. Its last page is 298. The Goodreads entry for this book shows the page length as 304 pages—very close! But I'd appreciate it if you could fix this.

Sandra | 31545 comments Sounds like you've got a reprint, "first published ...." is only done on subsequent printings.

WorldCat gives 256 pages & Amazon gives 304. And the kindle edition is 299 (with that cover).

We could do an alternative edition but we don't normally do that for reprints that have very little changes. Lets face it some books would have 20 or 30 reprints with little to no change.

John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments It's the fifth printing, to judge from the number sequence at the bottom of the copyright page, but it's definitely a Norton publication, to judge from the Norton colophon on the main title page. Is a fifth printing the same thing as a reprint?

Sandra | 31545 comments Yes.

I'm looking further into it. Apparently it was retitled from the Clarissa Oakes.

WorldCat is giving 1991 for True Love but still 256 pages.

John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments Thanks for investigating. I know it's a minor difference. Yes, the book was originally published in England under the title Clarissa Oakes.

Sandra | 31545 comments Looks like UK called it Clarissa Oakes & US The Truelove.

Which is not that unusual, often UK & US change name & covers.

So after trawling through WorldCat using numerous scenarios, no closer to a 298 page count, so think we should leave it.

John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments That's fine. Thank you for your efforts!
