TIB: Section 4 (Interlude, Chapters 21-29)

Section 4

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling things for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later sections/books. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

This section is a lot of setup, but some pretty big things happened:

1) Sothe has returned, come to Winter's aid in getting her home.
2) Sothe reveals what many here have guessed in previously reads that Winter is indeed Marcus's little sister
3) Everyone is re-united and Marcus learns the truth about Winter's gender and her parentage
4) Winter decides she needs Faore to create another battle angel or whatever they are called (the thing she did to Bobbie). Faore agrees to do it, but only if they willingly know what they are getting themselves into
5) So of course Sothe volunteers herself

I'm a little bummed about Sothe going on a suicide run, but it's better than Abby who for some reason I thought would be the one to volunteer. She seemed really depressed lately. I'm not sure why I didn't immediate thing of South, she's a far better choice.

I've previously commented I hoped Winter wasn't Marcus's sister, although I'm not really sure why. Now that's it's actually been revealed, I'm fine with it.

On to the final section and what I'm sure will be a good ending. I'm just not sure if we'll get the happy ending or what. It seems like Soothe is definitely going to die, but what about the rest?

So I had totally forgotten about the Winter as Marcus' sister, until the revelation. That actually made the big reveal more fun. I was glad that Winter ultimately decided to tell Marcus, along with revealing her gender (the worst-kept secret in the army).

I wonder if Winter will hesitate at the beast's core, since the core is Jane. Especially since Jane still seems to have at least a little awareness.

I liked how Racinia walked through the mud to get into the city. And I liked how the whole city was working together to prepare - just a little scene but like the group of women pulling up a tree stump .

And yes what will happen? I thing Soth will die, and Janus, but I'm HOPING everyone else lives. It is hard to predict though....
