Welcome to our Reader's Haven Challenge!

Tell us a bit about yourself!

What kind of books do you most like reading? Do you read classics regularly or are you just now venturing into the genre? What's your favorite classic book? Is there a particular classic you've always wanted to read?

Chelle (pandora_rose_xo) I love romances and prefer female authors. My all-time favorite classic is Wuthering Heights. I have always loved classic books. I cannot remember the last time I picked one up though (more 'cause of my brain fog than that it has been forever).

I've always wanted to read Animal Farm and The Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird. The second of these I got in the latter end of last year and plan on reading at some point this year.

I read anything and everything! (Well, almost.) I don't have much exposure to the classics but I have enjoyed what I've read so far.

I haven't dedicated much time to reading them. My favorites are Frankenstein and The Secret Garden. I've read a few of Shakespeare's plays. Outside of that, I have very little exposure to classic literature. Shame shame.

I'm really excited to read more and I'm so happy to participate in this challenge!

I loved Animal Farm and The Catcher in the Rye! They were both so great. I've never read To Kill a Mockingbird and it's about time I do.

Jacquelyn (buddhistalin) | 2 comments Hello!

I'm guilty of skipping most of the books we were supposed to read in school and sticking to the Sparknotes to pass tests. Now I've started to go back and read those books because I suppose there's a reason they're mandatory reads in school.

I'm intimidated by books like Wuthering Heights, mostly because of the language and length. I do, however, enjoy reading Shakespeare very much, especially if I can grab a version that has the "modern" translation included!

I was absorbed into Frankenstein last summer and couldn't put it down!

I look forward to seeing what comes of this group!

TKAM is one of my favorite books; I read the entire thing in one night while in high school! I've been meaning to re-read it so I can jump into the newer one (I can't think of the title right now).

Catcher in the Rye is also one that I couldn't put down; I still don't understand why everyone "hates" Holden, he reminded me of the whiny teen that I myself was.

Welcome! We're happy to have you!

I definitely feel that. I did the same thing throughout high school, but went on to study literature in college and ended up regretting skipping through some of the books.

Right?! My sister bought the book and read it for an English class, and she let me borrow her copy. She warned me that you either love or hate Holden. I loved reading him! It was great. I have a deep appreciation for the word "phony" now.

I have Wuthering Heights but I've been too intimidated to read it. Hopefully I'll tackle it sometime.

Steph L (thetheatergeek) | 1 comments Hi!!!!
I read a mix of everything, but tend to stick to the classics and YA. I read some of the classics in high school and college, I was an English major and have my AA in English so I read a lot.

My favorite classics are Pride&Prejudice and Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre was the book that changed the way I viewed books. I was in a class and we did a reading challenge, Jane Eyre was at the library and no one was telling me to read it. I have a soft spot for Dracula and Carmilla as well.

Suzanne Wdowik | 1 comments Ah! Comments! Technology! (I'm still figuring out how Goodreads works, sorry!)

I've read some classics, but lately I've just read classics for school (except for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I read last month). I haven't read it in a while, but I love The Secret Garden. Also, if we're counting pulpy/genre stuff, I LOVE Sherlock Holmes. He's my favorite literary character.
