Dagny Moland Seim | 48 comments I have just seen the first season of a mini-documentary called Stuck.

It follows actor/writer/director Emilie K. Beck as she visits Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangladesh. It's basically touches on the same themes as Half the Sun (OSS pick September/October 2016), so if you didn't get a chance to read that one, this will introduce you to some of the horrendous practices millions of girls and women still live under in 2018. Child marriage, bride kidnapping and child prostitution are just some of the issues brought up in the eight first episodes.

The presenter is a young Norwegian woman, who has said that she was not aware of these problems before she presented the show and that it has made her more aware of her own privilege. Season 2 just came out as well. Each episode is only about 10 minutes long.

The show can be streamed here: https://www.aftenposten.no/verden/i/z... . I think the link works worldwide.

The presenter is Norwegian, but the show is subtitled in English.

Would highly recommend it! Perhaps watch it with a friend who is not yet a feminist to get the conversation going? :)

Ashley | 82 comments I haven't had a chance to read the OSS pick. I hope to read it soon. I'd like to watch this beforehand. I did a huge class project on thus topic during my undergrad. it was really hard to wrap my head around.

Thanks for the link !! It was really interesting. Watched the two seasons in a row and it makes me so angry and sad at the same time ! Rapes, sexual exploitation, arranged marriages, pedo-criminality... All these young, brave and strong girls have so much too face and it's hard to not feel powerless.

The conclusion made by Emilie Beck on the last episode resumes everything : "They can't control their own lives, their own bodies or their own health. While I get to live out many of my dreams, they lead lives that seems more like nightmares. And in the nightmares, all the monsters are men."
