Ashley (morwesong) | 59 comments Happy Monday, everyone!

Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Ashley, and I am a Librarian working in the Outreach Services Department at the Chesapeake Public Library. I am very happy to be joining the 52 Book Pick Up team this year!

I will read pretty much anything, but my favorites are contemporary young adult fiction, dystopian novels, classics, and true crime. Even though it is a nearly-impossible task, if I had to choose a single favorite book, it would be 1984.

When I am not working or reading, I can be found scouring thrift shops and antique stores for treasures, crafting with Perler beads, and hanging out with my cat and bunny.

I am glad to be here, and I look forward to joining in on the discussions!

So - Snowmageddon 2018! We are on day 5, and I am going stir crazy! I've picked up a couple of different books, but nothing has held my attention for the entirety of this unexpected break. I started with The Tenth Circle, then I tried The Casual Vacancy. Both are really interesting so far, so once I get back in my groove I am sure they will move along quickly.

How has everyone enjoyed the snow days? Were you curled up with a good book, or did you frolic in the snow?

It's been fun, but I am ready for it to melt away now so I can get back to the real world!

1984 by George Orwell The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

Ashanti Sallee | 4 comments Please let me know if you enjoy The Casual Vacancy! J. K. Rowling is a great author but I had a hard time staying interested in the book. I’m thinking about trying to read it again though.

Marialyce Hello Ashley, Welcome to the group. I am loving the snow days and being indoors. (I think in my former life I was a bear who hibernated.) I have read a number of new and exciting books during the snowmaggeddon. Right now I am reading The Secret Life of Mrs. London a really interesting book about Charmain London the second wife of author Jack London, as well as Everything Here Is Beautiful, and starting The Taster shortly.

Morgan Hatfield | 1 comments Hello! While the snow days have been nice, I can't say I'm upset that it is all starting to melt.

I'm currently reading Life Debt, the second book in the Aftermath trilogy by Chuck Wendig, which tells the story of the final days of the Empire after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. I'm also continuing to make my way through a couple of short story anthologies: Tales from Shakespeare--a collection of abridged Shakespearean plays in prose from 1807--and The Wisdom of Father Brown--the second collection of Father Brown stories by G.K. Chesterton.

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments Hey Ashley, Welcome to the group. I'm glad the snow is gone, hopefully we won't get any more any time soon.

Despite falling asleep multiple times each day that we were snowed in, I did manage to continue my binge reading of cozy mysteries. I am currently reading Murder Past Due by by Miranda James. and the Home Decluttering Diet by Jennifer Lifford.
