Due to some life changes I recently made the decision to drop out of a book club I’ve been going to on and off for a couple years. I’ve only been reading 7-8 books a year and starting a lot more. I am a busy working mom and struggle to carve out reading time but l’m hoping to make it more consistent this year (and get better at finishing books).
I’m going to use the same outline for books they read every month from the Modern Mrs Darcy 2018 list. https://modernmrsdarcy.com/reading-ch... I’ve picked about half my books for the year for this list and I’ve got several I would like to finish in addition to these. I’m not necessarily following this order.
• A classic you’ve been meaning to read. • A book recommended by someone with great taste. • A book in translation. • A book nominated for an award in 2018. • A book of poetry, a play, or an essay collection. • A book you can read in a day. • A book that’s more than 500 pages. • A book by a favorite author. • A book recommended by a librarian or an Indie bookseller. • A banned book. • A memoir, biography, or a book of creative nonfiction. • A book by an author of a different race, ethnicity, or religion than your own.
My first book is the first on the list, and the classic I’ve been meaning to read is Murder on the Orient Express. I might be the last of my family to read it. It’s my 3rd Agatha Christie, her books are just so enjoyable to read, not life changing but totally fun. This month I’m also going to reread A Wrinkle in Time to prep for the movie coming out.
