Hello! Our Theme challenge for week two of this year is:

1st in a Series!

The goal here is to read any book that starts a series off. So pick up any book one of a series that you have been meaning to get to! Once again, we have a few 1st in a Series books that have been picked for January's book of the month! TruthWitch by Susan Dennard and Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor! 2 birds, 1 stone!

I think the last book slumped me since I didn't enjoy reading it. So I doubt I'll stay on a roll!

Aw it took me a bit to get through that book at first. Sometimes my husband talks about a book to much that I end up knowing what goes on before reading the book and this was one of those.

I started reading Truthwitch

R.J. Abell | 682 comments I'm not sure if I can finish this. It started out good, but it's so boring to me. Maybe I'm in a slump????

To be fair, if you read the Six of Crows first... the Grisha Trilogy will slump you because they are definitely not as good as the Six of Crows Duology.

I am the complete opposite. I loved the Grisha trilogy and didn't like Six of Crows as much.

Oh, alright I have done it backwards then. I thought you read the grisha trilogy first....then the six of crows.

The Grisha does come first and then the six of Crows duology.

I read the first Grisha Book then the six of crows duology. I felt like the Grisha trilogy came nowhere near the Six of Crows duology. That duology had everything. And I felt that the closer I got to the end of book 3 for the Grisha series, it started feeling like a reproduction of twilight. Where everyone wants alina. Where as in Six of Crows, the plot was real. Sadness, love, chaos, everything was poured into those books. Like the author got 10 times better while writing that duology.
