Hi Bube!

I have a hard time seeing any of my characters as anything other than their own unique individuals. But I would say that I can be as obnoxious as Reese and Kacey sometimes, as suspicious as Maggie sometimes, and as hellbent on gettting answers as Gracie.

Ally! I always say I can't choose a favourite because I put so much heart and soul into writing each and it would be like choosing a favourite child. I will say that Burying Water holds a special place in my heart, and I can't explain exactly why. It might be the characters, it might be the Oregon setting, or it might be something entirely different. Keep Her Safe is definitely the book I'm most proud of in terms of the writing and the complexity of the story.

Hello! I listen to music when I'm writing a first draft, but never when I'm revising. I tend to read lines out loud, over and over again until they "sound" right.

I think I have playlists somewhere but honestly, when it comes to my writing music, I choose a song and then throw it on repeat. It becomes background and it sets a specific mood that I want for that particular scene (or in some cases for the entire book.) Changing songs throws the mood off for me.

Hey Cassie! When I'm in writing mode, my number one must-have is a long stretch of time. I can't be doing an hour here, an hour there, while shuffling laundry and running dishes, and answering phones. I need to shut off the world completely for a good block of time and then focus. As far as tangible things go, just my laptop, my office, a closed door, and music if I'm in first draft mode :D

LaKecia Rodriguez | 8 comments In my books the only character that is me is that of a grandmother in my children's book on ACX. My other characters are more like a combination of people I've seen in action and how I perceive a situation is going for them.

LaKecia Rodriguez | 8 comments In The Cheating Game and Dangerous Liasions I would have to say the most feedback I get is from the character of Marlo. She's a take no prisoners type of character. In Angel Wings it's the voice of the guiding angel for the main character.

LaKecia Rodriguez | 8 comments I generally don't listen to music while I'm writing. Changing of songs on a playlist throws me off focus. Sometimes I can listen to music before writing to put me in a mood to write.

LaKecia Rodriguez | 8 comments Hey Cassie! When I'm in writing mode, my number one must-have is
quiet and no distractions. Often when I get a thought about something that has nothing to do with what I'm writing I jot it down on a piece of paper. The more complex the story or characters the more time is necessary.

LaKecia Rodriguez | 8 comments For the authors out there, what have you found to be the most difficult to getting your book(s) read and in the hands of people?

Carolina León (cariiitolm) | 94 comments What advice would you give to an aspiring author when someone has to write a plot?

message 62: by LaKecia (new)

LaKecia Rodriguez | 8 comments Carolina,
Usually what helps me with plots is to write down what is supposed to be going on with each of my characters in my books. You don't want to be all over the place with a plot.

People read differently now. Everything is rush-rush. So when people begin to read, if the first chapter of the book doesn't grab them then they stop reading. What I find most difficult is networking.
