Thanks, I don’t think it’s right but for the sake of £2.70 on Amazon I’ll find out.
I remember it as a lone hero storyline, but I may be miss remembering.
Thanks again!

Vertical Run by Joseph R. Garber looks very promising. There are different cover images.

When I was travelling in Australia about 10 years ago, I read a cheap paperback (probably from the 80’s) that seemed like a Die Hard rip off.
The story was about some vietnam veteran (ex member of tiger force) who finds himself pitted against some terrorists determined to destroy the skyscraper they’re in.
The terrorists also have a supply of hallucinogenic gas that causes the protagonist to have flashbacks to his time in Vietnam, with all the associated necklaces of ears, war crimes etc.
The ending of the book is a dream sequence of sorts where the protagonist dies, somewhere in “the jungle”.
I’m sorry if it’s abit vague, but I only read it once, then left in a hostel, and have always wanted to read it again.
Any suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance!
