Tina Creek | 82 comments It's to easy to get sucked in. I'm constantly making false promises to myself... one more chapter, one more episode...only to glance at the clock and realize its 3am.

Annika | 1412 comments Exactly! And the worst part? You know this when you go in, but do it anyway =P

*she says while starting a new episode*

message 53: by Tina (new)

Tina Creek | 82 comments Lol... i agree. I forced myself to stop and read a couple of characters.

message 54: by Jennifer H (last edited Jan 15, 2018 07:01AM) (new)

Jennifer H I just started Year One by Nora Roberts. So far, it seems a bit different than her normal fare but I'm liking it.

I love cooking shows too. I have just discovered a new one on Netflix called "Zumbo's Just Desserts" It is Australian also.

Annika | 1412 comments I've read a bunch of her books but after a while they're all the same. For some reason I seem to keep going back to her books anyway... But I like the sound of a different kind of NR book, might just get to it a little earlier ;)

message 56: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I just can't help myself when it comes to Nora Roberts she is my guilty pleasure. This book however is starting way different than any other book I have read by her (and that is almost all of them...lol). It is definitely not the typical three siblings each finding their true love in a book. :)

message 57: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments Haha good to know, she has written quite a few of those and they are a bit too predictable. Her suspense novels for the party few years have about been a bit so so, bland and too wordy. The in Death series is still strong though.

Elizabeth Hamor | 5 comments OK! I'm here, a little late to the game but honestly, I forgot that I signed up for this game.

Annika | 1412 comments Hi Elizabeth glad you made it over :)

Enxhi (angiebennet) | 1 comments Hello everyone! Just checking in. It's really nice to meet you!

Here is the link to my uno shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Annika | 1412 comments Hi, glad you found your way over!

message 68: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Hello Enxhi!

message 69: by April (new)

April Martin Sorry- just checked back in! I read a little of everything. I am reading Jane greens the sunshine sisters now, and listening to the tearling series.

message 70: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments How are you all doing, have you started to plan for your february reads yet? :)

message 71: by April (new)

April Martin I’d like to do the skip in the first hand- Kate Morton the author. The house at Riverton is the book. :) is that how this works? Or we just read something that fits?

message 72: by Teddie (last edited Jan 26, 2018 06:49AM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments Hi Team! To get ready for the challenge, everyone can enter the next book or 2 on the FEB-UNO Books sheet we've made on the spreadsheet. When you finish the book, enter the date in the Date column and add the book to your UNO shelf. (Please only have 2 or 3 unread books on the sheet at a time.)

+ You just need to enter the book, your name, and put an x to the left of the book name to indicate all the cards that book could fit.

+ If your cover is more than 50% blue, yellow, red or green, enter the color and the percent (you can look this up at TinEye).

+ You only need to fill in series, characters and location info if they are needed to show why that book can be used for a card you x-ed.

+ Please don't fill out anything on the February sheet - captains will assign books to cards, as we may need to move things around as the month progresses.

I've entered by first two as an example - please post any questions you have!

Let's get ready to UNO!

message 73: by Fatima (new)

Fatima Mohammed I tried editing the document but I wasn’t allowed access.

message 74: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments We are fixing that, Teddie is creating a new tracking sheet you all have access to. :)

message 75: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments I PM-ed everyone, so let me know if there is any trouble editing the new sheet.

Also, got this in my feed today ... sooo true :D

message 76: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I don't really plan ahead when I read. Is that going to cause a problem?

message 77: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments Jennifer H wrote: "I don't really plan ahead when I read. Is that going to cause a problem?"

Nope, not at all. I'm the same way. I might plan my reads for the next couple of days, but weeks ahead - that rarely happens. Just post your books and wha they fit for when you're done :)

Haha, love this ;)

message 79: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H That is great! I was beginning to worry there for a sec. ;)

message 80: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments No worry needed :D

A tip though, keep a pen and paper ready while reading to remember all those names and nicknames you come across, they might be a bit hard to remember after finishing the book :)

message 81: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments I realised I actually do know of one book I'll be reading in February: Closer Than You Think. Karen Rose writes the best suspense novels :)

message 82: by UNO Pixie, Our UNO Helper (new)

UNO Pixie | 1839 comments Are you ready??

The start of UNO is just around the corner!!

To while away the time a little as we're waiting for the countdown to run out, you could help Snoopy increase his tiny TBR pile and give him some recommendations on what to read next.

Just swing by THIS THREAD for more information and some awesome recommendations. You might just meet your next favourite book!

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Annika wrote: "I realised I actually do know of one book I'll be reading in February: Closer Than You Think. Karen Rose writes the best suspense novels :)"

She does write good ones!
And this is one I haven't read yet. It's been sitting on my shelf for a while though, hm.

message 84: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments She's one of my favourite authors. I'm planing to start it over the weekend, but you know - reading plans have a tendency to change ;)

message 85: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Lol yes! That's why I'm not planning anything yet, though I do want to try and read it in February as well.

But then.. I wanted to read Fingersmith for the NBRC BotM this month and it's the end of the month now with the book still sitting on my pile, unread ;-) So... yeah... haha.

message 86: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments Haha, I'm guessing something new and shiny cought your eyes?

message 87: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments No, it's just a big book and I don't have much reading time these days, so I'm not entirely sure it's wise to commit to a lot of big books in a month. ;-)

message 88: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments And you don't really want to lug them around either.

message 89: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Exactly!

Maybe I'll just use it for a weekend read and I'll read something else during the week... Hmm... yes... that might actually work, maybe hehe.

message 90: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments Are you all ready, only a few days before the challenge starts! :)

Annika | 1412 comments Eldarwen wrote: "Exactly!

Well, at least for the first weekend, after that, probably no so much ;)

message 92: by Tina (new)

Tina Creek | 82 comments If anyone is looking for a new book, I published one in October lol... it’s called Cupid’s Chance and works for several cards!

I can’t wait for uno to start. The waiting has hampered my normal reading a little cause I wanted to save everything I want to read for uno! Lol

message 93: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments Whad do you have on your list? :)

message 94: by Tina (new)

Tina Creek | 82 comments A four book series about vampires by Linda Lael Miller, I’m considering rereading the Luner Chronicles, Six Of Hearts, Intuition by Amy A. Barton and about a dozen more

message 95: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments haha, it sounds like you have the next couple of months planned ;)

message 96: by Tina (new)

Tina Creek | 82 comments Annika wrote: "haha, it sounds like you have the next couple of months planned ;)"

These should last a month and half maybe. Lol

message 97: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments Does any of them work for the coloured cards? They are the hardest to fill.

message 98: by Tina (new)

Tina Creek | 82 comments Yeah, I have some books in my library that will work with the colored cards. Are we going to assign cards or how are we picking them?

message 99: by Annika (last edited Jan 30, 2018 12:39PM) (new)

Annika | 1412 comments The easy option? Read any book you like, write down everything it will fit for, if you wan't/can add them to the tracking spreadsheet Teddie created. Then we will move them to the best option :)

message 100: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1412 comments The most difficult cards are the coloured ones and the reverse cards. So those we actively need to hunt for.

And by the end of the month when we know which letters we have left to fill we probably need to read target specific books. But for now, read and enjoy :)
