Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I just finished The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul (Dirk Gently, #2) by Douglas Adams read 4/21, 5 stars - it has a glass on the cover so we could possibly use this for #34 if you want to use it.

Some of the action takes place in Valhalla (a fantasy world) but it primarily takes place in England, so I don't know if this will work for #4...it's a long shot.

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments We'll use it for the breakable :) Jenny if you like Douglass you'd probably like Terry Prattchet's Discworld. Guards! Guards! is a good starting point for that massive world

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I've been meaning to give that world a try.

4. set in a different world (i.e. not Earth) - His Own Good Sword by Amanda McCrina
48. with a Pink cover - The Aqua Net Diaries Big Hair, Big Dreams, Small Town by Jennifer Niven - 54.6 % Pink

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I still haven't started the following tasks either Ricka if you run out...

29. with 500+ pages
68. first published on the 29th (any month)
32. where SKY can be found in the title
and
Red 3 card

They're still in my plan but if someone else can read for them first, just post and let me know. Thanks!

message 358: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 22, 2018 06:39AM) (new)

Hi Jenny

I'll be finished with the 3 books I'm reading by tomorrow. I'll finish one tonight and the other 2 maybe tomorrow or Tuesday so if you don't mind I'd like to read for your Red 3 card and 32. where SKY can be found in the title .

I've found the perfect book for this It's 70.3% red , Character called Hawk Shadow (Frog’s eldest brother) for the 3 and it also covers your 32. where SKY can be found in the title
Great Sky Woman (Great Sky Woman, #1) by Steven Barnes

message 359: by Jammin Jenny (new)

No problem From the reviews I've read it sounds something like Clan of the Cave Bear which I loved. Hope my expectations is not to high. I've finished my previous book so I'm starting Great Sky Woman now

In that case, I won't write off my Winter's Heart just yet which could work on 500+ pages :) Just in case...

We can do this!!! Go Team Hydrus!

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments Yes Virna don't write it off yet. Even if we both finish one, if we finish all of them maybe one of our books will also work for another task and we can shoot for the bonus!!

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I'm actually going to read The Good Daughter (The Good Daughter #1) by Karin Slaughter instead for 29. with 500+ pages (528 pages)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Fixed

message 366: by Nicole B (last edited Apr 22, 2018 09:52PM) (new)

Nicole B | 119 comments Because of the concern with the three Bs, I'm going to read The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery instead for 26 :)

message 367: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Oh actually that is all sorted and it just has to be at least two Bs. So either book you wanna do is fine

message 368: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 351 comments So close! Filligrees is done but I can't seem to update it properly on my phone
(nor link). Pies & Perils is about 50% done

message 369: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Okay guys we have only one task unclaimed: 43. Read a book with a main page genre of music/musician

message 370: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I can take that one

43. Read a book with a main page genre of music/musician
The Beatles by Mike Evans

message 371: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I'm almost finished with Macbeth by William Shakespeare and it works for both #28 (set in Scotland) and #55 (poem in text - By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes). In case we need it for the bonus round :-).

I'll include it in my tracking post in case we need it.

message 372: by Alexa (last edited Apr 23, 2018 11:20AM) (new)

Alexa Carver (alexacarver) I'm still playing. When I went to update my tracking post it looked like everything was already covered for April so I didn't list the cards each book would work for. At that time all of the bonus cards were called for as well so I didn't list any of that. If I'm wrong and I need to go back and list either of those things I can do that.

message 373: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Apr 23, 2018 11:26AM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments Alexa, if you have books that fit any of these tasks let me know and you can have them.

⭐ 29. with 500+ pages
⭐ 43. Read a book with a main page genre of music/musician
⭐ 68. first published on the 29th (any month)

The books need to have been started on or after April 12th in order to count.

message 374: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Alexa

I don't think any decisions has been made about the 4 bonus book we can read when we're finished with the 70 tasks . Why don't you just list all the tasks that you're books fits and let Caroline do her magic.

message 375: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments That's a great idea Ricka!

message 376: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Yes to all of this. Alexa it is likely we'll be able to use your books as our bonus ones, so please mark which ones you started after the 12th and all tasks they'll work for and we'll go from there :D

Keep up the great work ladies, we're almost there!

message 377: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi everybody

I've only got The Hired Girl left to read. I'm starting it tonight but won't be able to finish it before Friday because I'm taking a midweek break with my sisters.

I'll check in on Friday again to see how everybody is doing but I'm sure we'll make it. Enjoy!!

message 378: by Megan (new)

Megan Hey everyone, sorry I've been out of town and unable to update my reading while I was gone. I've finished both Lock & Key and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I'm working on Origin now and will finish up with American War and that will cover everything I've claimed! If more needs to be picked up just let me know :)

message 379: by Caroline (last edited Apr 24, 2018 05:33PM) (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Excellent work everyone - we've only got 12 books left to read! It looks like our bonus books are already completed as well :D

Jenny - what is a second task The Beekeeper's Apprentice will work for? Can't be 5, 58, 17, 69, 28, or 24

Don't forget that all of your mini-challenge books need to be on your UNO shelves as well. Since this is our last month, please remove any books that were planned for UNO, but never got read. This will just make things easier for Jenny and the mods when they are checking our shelves :D

message 380: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments The book would also work for #70 - blunt character. Their powers of observation make both Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes fairly blunt characters.

message 381: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Great - and that is our bonus books completely sorted

message 382: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 351 comments Tracking post updated here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

It sounds like everything is covered but if not I'll see what I can do.

message 383: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments I was thinking since we're pretty much finished, but I assume most of us are not going to just stop reading for the rest of April, that any books you do finish just keep updating your tracking threads with what they could be used for in the mini. This was if anything gets kicked back by the mods in the first week of May, we have usable books to get things moved around :D

message 384: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments Sounds like a plan! I'll mark mine as "Other Books"

message 385: by Hiraya (new)

Hiraya (artsynanay) | 63 comments Finished! Man, that Jules Verne book was a bit difficult to read. The book was really interesting but the choice of words and writing style simply did not appeal to me.

Completed books:
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne

The Memory of Things by Gae Polisner

Here's the link to my original (and already updated) reading plan, for reference: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 386: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I find that true with Jules Verne as well Virna.

message 387: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Excellent Virna~! We've only got 9 books left to go ladies :D

Thanks Caroline!

Right, Jenny? It feels a bit dragging....it reminds me a bit of Fitzgerald's writing, but while getting a tooth pulled out. The content is great, I have no problem whatsoever with the words he was telling. It was exciting. It should have been, at least.

I'd still recommend it, though. But it's not the best book to read if you have a tired mind and you're reading for relaxation.
