So disappointing because the premise sounded great and I always like to support Australian authors. But her writing is just awful and I couldn't go on

Yes, exactly Sass. I find I stop enjoying reading altogether and it becomes a chore if I have something I don’t like.

what did you think Lisa? It is always so different reading these as an adult

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments It was such a nostalgic read Karen especially reading my late Mum's copy which is nearly 80 years old. Even though it is a book of its time (you could look critically at it as slightly racist and sexist) it was just a lovely read (and I still shed a tear when Matthew died!)

I'm going to PEI later in the year and I can't wait to go to Green Gables. It's a real bucket list experience.

message 734: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Yes I re-read them a few years ago and some things are a little shocking. I have my grandmother's books which are around that vintage too ;)

I went to PEI in 2000 and it was just so breath-takingly beautiful. You'll love it

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Oh love these mini challenges. I'll look what I've got.

Did you mean starts after April 12th though....

message 748: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Oh yes, thanks! I edited. Hard to believe it is April already 😬

message 749: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments I think the most difficult is:

20 Apr Look Alike Day
Read 2 different books with the same cover
41. Book 1
42. Book 2

So that means the identical cover. Like
I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon and A Ring of Truth (Henrietta and Inspector Howard, #2) by Michelle Cox
(btw I can read one if someone can read the other)

Otherwise does anyone have two books with the same cover in mind? Maybe someone can read the other one?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments I can read either one Karen.
