I also really liked the story about the pregnancy frog! Never would have thought! I also found her chapter on ocean diversity to be very interesting.

I feel the same about the chapters not really flowing together but being separate short stories. It wasn't a major irritation, just a mind reset with each chapter.

WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!!
I learned so much from this book. I am not a nature person, so this book was something a bit new to me. I learned so much about the history of paleontology, current animals all over the globe, to be able to explain global warming clearly and accurately and to also realize the future looks bleak but there is a slight hope.
This book covers the believed 5 mass species extensions in Earth's history and gives evidence that not only are we headed to another mass extension, but that humans are also the cause.
I loved the book and learning the different ecosystems, studies, and animals. It also leaves me with a sense of helplessness. I recommend the book and am following it with a similar book that focuses on civilizations and societies to see if there is a chance for survival or if we are doomed to cause our own extinction.
Favorite fact, Before modern pregnancy tests, a frog from Africa was used a pregnancy test. If injected with urine from a pregnant woman, the frog with have babies within a short time period. 2 or 4 hrs if I remember correctly.
Great book.
