In honor of Women’s History Month in March, the Online Book Club is excited to announce our winter 2018 reading selection, The Death Class: A True Story About Life, by Erika Hayasaki.

We have limited FREE copies of the book available for students! Students must commit to participating in the virtual discussions on Goodreads (between March 4th-17th) in order to receive a book.

Request your FREE book here!

In this gripping, true story, an extraordinary professor (Dr. Norma Bowe) teaches a popular course on death, and plunges deep into the lives of her most vulnerable students. Award-winning journalist, Erika Hayasaki, follows Dr. Bowe over four years and shows how she steers students who come from troubled families and dangerous neighborhoods toward happiness: she rescues one young woman from her suicidal mother, helps a young man manage his schizophrenic brother, and inspires another to leave his gang life behind. Through this unorthodox class on death, Norma helps kids who are barely hanging on understand not only the value of their own lives, but also the secret of fulfillment: to throw yourself into helping others.

**Additionally, please join us on Thursday, March 8th, 2018, at 11:00 AM for a live guest speaker event with Dr. Norma Bowe in the Woodbridge Campus Student Center and livestreamed online!

Students, faculty, and staff from every campus are welcome to join us virtually as we discuss a new work each semester.

Please contact with any questions!
