Ideal number of books for a series?

As others have said, it's more about the series rather than a serial, so hve always been over the moon when a new Rebus or Shardlake came out. Also have all of the Cadfaels, and Agatha Christie's. Now have to add Peter May's Lewis Trilogy, Donna Leon, Christobel Kent

As others..."
Must admit I enjoy the Harry Potter books.
I love the Shardlake books, hope we get another one soon. I also used to have all the Agatha Christie and Terry Pratchett Discworld books amongst others.

Good taste and a craving for originality? ;-)

Glad I didn't say it."
Absolutely, it would never have occurred to someone of your wit and sagacity

I don't mind so much if I catch it halfway through because it's not as long a delay to get to the final battle/resolution.
