Question of the Week

What’s your favorite thing about the place where you currently live?
"
Hmmmmmmmmm good question. I honestly hadn't given it consideration before. I like the more openminded attitudes here (well, that depends on who you hang with because a lot of the older folk or backwoods conservatives do not count) and sheer range of individuals you can encounter, especially as you reach the cities (Portland, notably). But whether it's vets with fascinating stories, outdoor fanatics (another fav thing of mine is the scenery), contemplative artists, farmhands or loggers, hardcore environmentalists, potheads, etc. there is such a cool melting pot of people here. I love how diverse the people are, though that love isn't found in every person. I once had a customer complain about hearing 3 different langauges when she walked through the store. *shakes head* anyway. Yeah. Lots of cool peeps, though we do have some not so cool people around but that's to be expected

let's just say I'm jealous of everyone who has a real answer to this question

How accepting everyone is. How everyone is really weird and different and unique and that's okay. How there are different sexualties and genders and that's okay. How there are different cultures and various hobbies and that's okay. Everything in my town is just....okay. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I live in MN and the coolest thing about it are either all the lakes (and all the beaches) or the Mall of America. Also, we don't have a tax on clothes. And, we have Caribou Coffee which is like Starbucks but better :).
But, I think my favorite thing about it is the general atmosphere, I guess? Like, it's pretty chill and the people are nice (for the most part lol). Idk, it's hard to pick a singular favorite thing. There's just a lot of small things I like, which accumulated makes me love Minnesota.

Oklahoma is honestly really beautiful. A lot of it is just empty country, but it is home to some of the oldest mountains in the country, the Arbuckles (they're short because they're old), and the third most fertile valley in the world, the Washita.
Huge lakes, half of Lake Texoma, and one of my favorite places I've ever been period, not just this state, is the Chickasaw Recreational Forest. It's big and empty and green and quiet. I know a lot of states have parks but the Chickasaw is especially dense. My favorite thing about it is the land and nature diversity, so many different plants and animals and landscapes.
I bet half of you had to remind yourselves where OK even is geographically (if you're not from/don't live here you might think of it as Upper Texas) and i admit, there's nothing super special about it. it's Flyover Nation. But i think it has a lot that makes it at least bearable to live here. The First Nations have a really big presence here and their elders are committed to keeping their spirit alive. Native American tribes from California to Texas wound up here because of Cavalry displacement, and when the state formed in 1907, tribal offices and resources when some of the first installments of the state government, because the citizens, a lot of whom were Native or half-Native, wanted the First Nations to be represented. They teach us tribal history when we're young, they hold festivals every year for everyone to learn about their cultures from food and stories and music, and we're taught from a very young age that we're not better than anyone else because of what color we are, because a lot us aren't totally one thing anyway. No matter what you hear, Oklahoma is very diverse and very staunch about beating racism out of you as a child.
I'm from Texas, and that's home, but this state has a lot of unique experiences to offer. It was a good place to grow up.

okay moving to San Francisco now

I met my closest friends here.

The only character that comes close to mind is...Sherlock Holmes, but I’m not a fan of his drug use. Mateo from They Both Die At the End is kindhearted to the core, but I still feel like I know him well enough to call him my favorite character. A from Every Day is a pretty great fictional character too, but this entity say and thinks things that I can’t get 100% behind of. All the characters I like have flaws, and part of the reasons I like them is because they’re not perfect, they make mistakes and have flaws like everyone in real life.
I lost my train of thought, I hope I answered the question!

who do you relate to the most?

atm i relate to every single beggar in the world, very broke
