Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) | 1488 comments Life is where you are forced to have by your inconsiderate parents. You have to challenge yourself so you don't face death. I blame my parents to why I am here today. What would you rather do? Not bring something to life or destroy life? If they really cared about me they wouldn't have put me in this earth in the first place. Really they don't care about me they just care about themselves.

message 1103: by Shree (new)

Shree Prabha | 2 comments Such an easy question to ask. Like asking who am I? :)

I have asked this so much and am just left with the understanding that there is no meaning- at least nothing that i have fathomed. it seems to be just an occurrence!

Back when I was religious I would have said that the meaning of life was a testing ground of sorts to determine our true character and our devotion to a higher power as we exercise our agency. However, that same religious understanding implied that we 1) were able to make decisions before and were therefore thinking and probably feeling beings before we had "life", 2) we ourselves could not "pass the test" without the aid of Jesus and those who had passed on could not without the aid of the living, 3) life after death could essentially be seen as without meaning since we have reached the end goal, unless some new goal is to be made (which was generally believed to be that those most faithful would become gods themselves).
Admittedly point one is sorta understood and point 3 is just my take on it, but it lends to question what exactly you define life as. Is it, like Gerin said, the distinguishing feature between us and plastic? Is it intelligence? If you do believe in life before or after death, does the absence or addition of a body exclude someone from life?
Or, if we assume life ceases at the loss of a heartbeat, is life the presence of a heartbeat?
You see, personally I feel like life never quite ends. The world has an excellent way of recycling matter and carrying on. But in that way I don't know that life ever ends. Whether there is a divine entity or our spirit being continues on in any aspect isn't really important in our present existence and the function of our world. Some would say that kind of thinking leads a person to hell, but that's beyond the point. If there is a meaning to life, I believe it is to support the continuation of life and
((Though on a side note our present burial practices go against this idea because we don't allow natural processes to occur so our bodies can provide nutrients to thus support other life))
I do feel like there is a more important question than the meaning of life, and that is to adjust wording. What gives life meaning? For some that is finding and following their percieved meaning of life. But I think the true answer is much more beautiful, complex, and personal. In this idea there is potential and the chance to make the most of our present existence.

Very true :) It is fun reading academic papers especially on concepts like this. And I definitely agree

Jaxon(Jax)[They-He] | 4642 comments I don't believe in God nor do I know the meaning of life yet

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments There is no 'one meaning of life' because everyone lives vastly different lives. What one person wants out of their life will be different to the next person. The only thing you can do is find your own reason for existing and ask yourself what you want out of your life. Only you know that. Only you know what meaning your life has.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments gerin wrote: "Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten wrote: "gerin wrote: "Gerin is also a woman of science and she believes that credible academic papers can give enlightenment to even the most abstract question like this..."

Bahahaha. I don't find all of them fun, but there's some really enjoyable ones out there. Like I read one a couple months ago about reimagining justice from an environmental justice standpoint and it included concepts like radical ecologies, black radical tradition, and decolonial something or other. That one was miserable. Super dense. I suppose it depends if I'm interested in the topic or not, but even if not it is always fun to learn.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments Lol. Yeah, that one. It was a good article just dense. :) I've read other articles related to environmental justice that I enjoyed more

Do you agree with the fact that indigo is its own color in the rainbow?

message 1119: by jay, rip (new)

jay (jaysonstreet) | 35349 comments Mod
NO. IT SHOULDNT BE ITS OWN COLOR DAMMIT. it’s just a MIX OF purple and blue. the colors SURROUNDING IT. when you look up at the sky and see a fucking rainbow you can’t even differentiate between blue and indigo and purple. it’s bullshit that it gets its own color. besides, the acronym still sounds the same whether you’re saying ROY G BIV or ROY G BV. so fuck indigo. fucking useless color.

I mean, yes but they don't make indigo crayons easily accessible to children so most colored rainbows are just red orange yellow green blue purple purple anyway.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 5901 comments jay wrote: "

Dude I haven't thought about the colors in the rainbow since I was in elementary school. Wth you asking me for?!

(Though from an artist perspective I think the colors observed in a rainbow are subject to personal interpretations. Like I have a colorblind sister and for her a rainbow is entirely different than the rainbow most others see. It's just a freakin' rainbow - sit back and enjoy it. Who cares what colors are technically included?)

It doesn't reflect light like the others do, thus it can't exist in a rainbow

If flowers are nature, but pink isn't in nature, why do we have pink flowers...?

message 1138: by Jaxon(Jax)[They-He] (new)

Jaxon(Jax)[They-He] | 4642 comments Just being a smart a** rn :D

☣ EMᕈRESS SERΔ ☣ (empress-sera) Okay but really, pink isn't one of light's colors. It's a color that exists when bouncing off of something. Obviously pink exists in nature because we can see it, but it still doesn't exist in light by itself.

☣ EMᕈRESS SERΔ ☣ (empress-sera) And if it did, it would be closer to the red part?

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Because nature's weird. Scientists have found evidence of things that shouldn't exist normally in nature and yet they do. Our own universe doesn't follow its own laws of physics.

Or it's just God's will. Whatever you believe.
